I know everyone wants to move on from the Visa thing but I couldn’t figure out why there was such strong opinions from two sides. Rick Lee and Lefty Sig finally made it clear. I didn’t realize how the abuse was rampant with the H1 by both employees and employers. I’ll hold my opinion because I don’t want to foster further discussion but thanks for clearing that up guys.

I'm with you on this. Changing the rules suddenly, due to no malfeasance on the part of the visa holder, so that they cannot reenter but could have stayed years longer had they not briefly left? That seems punitive.

I, personally, approve of a stiff fee to employers to bring in foreign workers. Both long and medium term. Very short term, less than 30 days, is fine by me as it won't displace Americans.

True! 1995 to 1999 I was a contract worker at BellSouth's software development center. There were just under 400 BellSouth employees, working with and directing approximately 1,400 contract software engineers. Everything worked just fine, software was developed, tested, and released with very few problems.

In 1999, Anderson Consulting (a division of Arthur Anderson) convinced BellSouth to turn the software development over to Anderson. BellSouth employees were hired by Anderson, but the contract workers were a different story. Anderson became the exclusive source for contract employees. Anderson charged BellSouth a fixed hourly rate for each contractor, no matter what the contractor was paid. Hundreds of American contract software developers were dropped and replaced by H1B Anderson employees. The margin -- the difference between the hourly rate that Anderson received from BellSouth, and the hourly pay for the employee -- changed drastically in Anderson's favor, while the quality of software development and testing took a nosedive.

Anderson replaced hundreds of experienced American software developers with less qualified H1B employees, solely to increase their profit.

The H1B system killed American science and technology work careers. I know this for a fact as I am a victim of it.

Of course the left will claim it's just the opposite, the right are violent. That sort of thinking is because they think they get to define "violence".

Supreme Court to hear case on presidential authority to fire independent board members

https://justthenews.com/govern..._campaign=newsletter

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to consider whether President Donald Trump has the authority to fire certain board members of independent agencies instead of Congress having to be involved.

The Supreme Court decided to take the case after it ruled in a 6-3 split that Trump can fire Rebecca Slaughter, a Democratic member of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), while the case plays out, per the Associated Press.

The high court will be ruling on whether to overturn a Franklin Roosevelt-era precedent, established in 1935, that determined a board member can only be removed by a president for misconduct or neglect of duty. The Trump administration has argued that the president should have the authority to fire board members who work for the executive branch.

The case comes after Trump tried to fire Democratic members of the FTC, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Federal Reserve board of governors.

“Congress, as everyone agrees, prohibited each of those presidential removals,” liberal Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan wrote in a minority decision. “Yet the majority, stay order by stay order, has handed full control of all those agencies to the President.”

The justices are expected to hear the case in December.

Had a meeting at work in an operations center today and they have large TV monitors on a video wall there and three of them in a row were tuned to CNN, MSNBC and Fox News.

I noticed during the UN address that MSNBC's feed must have cranked up the contrast and color settings because President Trump's face was very shiny and orange and the other two feeds looked normal.

These kinds of dirty tricks this shitty network plays is one of the key reasons they are failing and getting rebranded in an effort to stay alive.

I happened across it randomly and was sucked in as soon as I began watching.

That was an incredible speech. Wide-ranging without rambling. Great blend of serious topics but mixed with humor occasionally. I especially liked how he called out the UN and cited specific failures and showed how the US often ended up tackling, and often accomplishing, tasks which should have been undertaken by the UN.

The call to all countries to protect their borders, and by extension, their unique cultures and customs was especially powerful.

The focus on energy as a global issue and the denunciation of climate change as an expensive and dangerous hoax was outstanding.

Great speech and I don't often find myself watching speeches of that length in their entirety.
