PB... I am looking now, but is this a law they are trying to pass or is there some function of the senate that can tie The Presidents hands on this matter without house approval and him signing it?

DT has said it will be vetoed if it gets to him.
Government at its finest. So without a veto override majority, not going anywhere.

President Donald Trump announced in an interview aired Jan. 8 that the United States would begin launching strikes on cartels in Mexico.

“The cartels are running Mexico. It’s very sad to watch and see what’s happened to that country.

“They’re killing 250,000, 300,000 in our country every single year.”

The announcement comes just five days after Trump ordered an operation to capture and remove Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro to the United States to face criminal charges, including narco-terrorism.

Trump gave a warning to several Latin American countries following the U.S. strike on Venezuela and Maduro’s capture.

“I think we’re just going to kill people that are bringing drugs into our country,” Trump said on Oct. 23, 2025.
U.S. officials have linked cartels to tens of thousands of American overdose deaths annually. Trump has criticized Sheinbaum for declining U.S. offers to dismantle the cartels.

Trump did not give a timeline for land strikes against cartels.

What is you guys' opinion of Trump trying to obtain Greenland? Maybe I missed it being discussed, but somehow it doesn't feel quite right to me... trying to force the island out of the hands of the Danish. I understand it's strategic importance, but if Denmark doesn't want to play ball with the USA, is it right to keep forcing the issue? I'm undecided.

Nobody is forcing anything as far as Greenland is concerned.
But the US acquiring Greenland would be an amazing addition to the USA. Just say'in. I would love to see it. It would be a strategic acquisition for sure.

Oh, I would love to see it also! It just seems like Trump is trying to force Denmark to relinquish control when it's their territory.

It is entirely about US strategic interests, primarily in three areas:

1. If you want missile defense against China, NK, and Russia, their ICBMs fly over the arctic to get here (unless sub launched). What is the shortest and best intercept to kill an incoming ICBM? It's also worth pointing out that Trump knows most Europeans suffer from extreme TDS. He gets their leaders to do what he wants by having them think they are opposing him.
He talks about leaving everything including military action on the table and in days NATO countries are talking up defense of Greenland and increased NATO spending. These are the things Trump could have led with and negotiated, but look how fast they react to a Trump "threat".

Greenland belongs to us, and there is not a damn thing the wee little kingdom of Denmark or any other wee little kingdoms of Europe can do about it.

He warned them to increase their contributions to NATO, he warned them to stop buying petro from Russia and he warned them about the Islam take over...they FA and now they FOed.

So, if the Greenland deal happens, how long before the first cruises to Greenland? Then all-encompassing cruise to Greenland and Iceland...maybe Ireland?
