As someone described it during Trump 45; The left takes Trump literally but not seriously. Conservatives take him seriously but not literally.

It really does go over some heads that statements like "Canada will be the 51st state", or "thinking about a 3rd term", or the Pope pic, and now the Alcatraz statement, these get leftists and RINOs so angry, so emotional, they lose what little focus they had left. Trump has been doing this in his business life years before he became POTUS, and I think it is hilarious yet effective. There’s not much on Alcatraz worth saving but the rock itself. Half the time I don’t know what Trump is talking about nor why. But I do understand that communication for him is not just to transfer information. It is a lever to move behavior just as the tariffs are. He doesn’t want the tax money nor the potential trickle down affect. He wants a behavior change. I don’t know why Alcatraz even has his attention, but I trust his judgment and motive. It would be completely different if Kamala were to start braying about it You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

Alcatraz is well known in popular culture. It, or its inmates, or the escape attempts, have been the subject of numerous movies, TV shows, etc. Everybody knows what it was.

People who take Donald Trump literally on his every word are just the one who hate him or don't understand him or both.

My grandfather was not an "educated" person, except when it came to dealing with people and life. The best advice he ever gave me: "Son, your brain can handle emotions or thinking - just not both very well at the same time. If you got to make an important decision, let go of the emotions for a spell". I suspect that is why Trump tries to keep his opposition stirred up most of the time.

Words matter and the words spoken by important people matter the most. As President Trump is currently the most important world leader, his words matter more than any others’, and history is full of examples of how words alone have changed the course of history. I realize that many people are much smarter than I and therefore are capable of immediately knowing whether something said was intended as a serious statement of policy and/or intent or was just some sort of “trolling” (to use the word of the moment) designed for some other purpose from eliciting an informative response to just being annoying. The problem, however, is that if some of those smart people are among his enemies and know that he’s not being serious with statements like the US should annex (invade?) Canada to make it another state, not everyone who would be affected by such an action if it were true is smarter than I. They therefore might believe that it was intended as a serious policy statement. The smart ones who know he’s just being himself and has not the slightest intention of pursuing such a goal will nevertheless seize on such statements to convince the stupid ones like me that he’s serious—and they will—and have. There is nothing like making people afraid that something bad will happen to them to get them to take action to ensure it doesn’t happen. That action can consist of voting for a national leader whom they would otherwise avoid if he seems to be the strongest way to prevent the bad things from happening. That is widely believed to have been why the far Left was unexpectedly brought to power in Canada. It’s also being claimed that similar movements are being seen elsewhere for the same reason. And there can be worse things than the rise of Leftist power around the world. When Reagan was president, the Soviets were literally so afraid of his mild characterizations of them and his efforts to rearm America that it brought us far closer to the brink of war than most people realize. Yes, his stance and actions also helped result in how one Communist leader put it: “We were forced to arm ourselves to death,” but not everything turns out as well for the world. Declaring that Alcatraz should be remodeled to house all the illegals to be arrested is just silly. Other statements …, not so much. ► 6.0/94.0 I can tell at sight a Chassepot rifle from a javelin.

I'm thinking the tariffs and changes to trade balance will be pretty decisive relating to the cost of the wall. We may not receive anything directly, but May-hee-co has already lost a shitload of manufacturing to the US.

I think that you are understanding the monkey’s comment differently than I do. “The Art of the Troll.” Is a nod to “The Art of the Deal” As alluded to by others, (I think at least) President Trump is trolling about reopening prisons to lock illegal alien criminal up until he can finally ship them out. I believe sigmonkey is pointing out PDJT’s trolling, not calling you a troll. It was a long time ago, but someone said something like, “The media takes President literally, but they don’t take him seriously. By contrast, his supporters take him seriously, but don’t take him literally.

Trump keeps promise by signing EO banning federal funding for gain-of-function research https://justthenews.com/govern..._campaign=newsletter President Donald Trump on Monday kept a promise he made last year by signing an executive order that bans federal funding for gain-of-function research in countries like China and Iran, which is believed to be at the heart of the COVID-19 lab leak in Wuhan. Trump outlined his plan to deal with gain-of-function research to Just The News' John Solomon on his podcast last October. "For decades, policies overseeing gain-of-function research on pathogens, toxins, and potential pathogens have lacked adequate enforcement, transparency, and top-down oversight," the White House said in a fact sheet obtained by Fox News. "Researchers have not acknowledged the legitimate potential for societal harms that this kind of research poses." The executive order also allows U.S. research agencies to identify and end federal funding of other biological research that could cause a future pandemic, or pose a threat to American health and safety. _________________________

Link The American Academy of Pediatrics, which has betrayed the children of America by backing this sick insanity, of course is opposed to the report.
