“Pete Hegseth has demanded the active duty military cut 20 percent of its four-star generals in a further move toward Donald Trump's mandate to cut government waste.

Hegseth also told the National Guard to shed 20 percent of its top positions and directed the military to cut an additional 10 percent of its general and flag officers across the force, which could include any one-star or above or officer of equivalent Navy rank.

The cuts are on top of more than a half-dozen top general officers that President Donald Trump or Hegseth have fired since January, including the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. CQ Brown Jr.

They also have fired the only two women serving as four-star officers, as well as a disproportionate number of other senior female officers [who were disproportionately promoted] …”

That tells everything you need to know.

Pulitzer Prizes, the so-called “journalism” award equivalent to the Nobel Peace Prize. “Cracker Jack” prizes are more meaningful.

This is long overdue. From the drawdown in the 90s, the Army reached about 1.2M AD/NG/USAR and we had about 106 GOs. Today, we’re at around 1.3M but with 230 GOs. We more than doubled our GOs on the rationale that with a smaller force, we’d have more technology and programs requiring monitoring and command and control. We also increased the size of the E9 strength commensurate with those additional command positions (the E9, specifically the Command Sergeant Major, increased as the population of the officer ranks increased, not just the GOs- but O6 command level billets as well). I wonder if DoD will cut the senior enlisted position that worked alongside that GO?

I don't think we had that many four-stars in the entirety of World War II. (There were lots of ones, twos and threes.) And, also unlike WWII, most or all of the present ones are little more than politicians wearing military uniforms. We need more Chesty Puller, Curtis LeMay, W.T. Sherman, et al types and a lot fewer Mark Millies. (spelling on purpose)

In WW II the Army had 13 four- and five-star generals, peaking in 1945.

Supreme Court upholds military transgender ban (for now)

It's not a decisive victory, but it's still a victory.

quote:
The Supreme Court on Tuesday gave the Trump administration another victory as it upheld its ban on transgender people serving in the military.

President Donald Trump issued an executive order on January 27 prohibiting trans-identified individuals from serving in the US military. The order argued that there were serious concerns over unit cohesion, mental and physical readiness, and the impact on military efficacy. However, critics claim the order unfairly discriminates against trans-identified people.

The Supreme Court’s order places a stay on a preliminary injunction that a lower court imposed against the policy. It further notes that Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented from the ruling. The stay will remain in effect until the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rules on the White House’s appeal of the lower court’s order.

By and of necessity, the military "discriminates" against lots of people. There are certain mental and physical standards that have to be met.

I'm not sure I'd call it discrimination. If you're NOT deployable, which by definition a person receiving continuous hormone treatments is not, you shouldn't be eligible to serve. We don't even allow people currently taking ADHD medication to enlist.

I'm a little surprised--more than a little--that Pence wants to die on this cross. It's the globalist view, to hell with the working people of the United States.

^^^ Remember when he told Tucker that the plight of the American people was not his concern, when asked why we should continue funding Ukraine? The SOB made it very clear then.
