Re: “The FACT that six Justices were OK with signing onto an opinion where Justice Barrett took a personal shot at Justice Jackson is a VERY STRONG indication that Jackson has alienated her colleagues and there is a growing lack of respect for her work.”

What was the “personal shot”? A hard slam, I hope, but probably more subtle.

In a 6-3 decision Thursday, the Supreme Court has ruled President Donald Trump's efforts to end "birthright" citizenship are constitutional, overruling rogue judges issuing national injunctions.
The article did not name the three justices who dissented. Anyone want to take a guess? Anyone? Bueller?

We are extremely fortunate and blessed KBJ is as stupid, annoying, and insufferable to the justices and she is for us. DEI gave her a life appointment but it won't matter if she pissed the others off.

More on Justice ACB writing:
JUSTICE JACKSON skips over that part. Because analyzing the governing statute involves boring "legalese,"

She essentially called KBJ dumb/lazy.

Thanks. That’s a pretty hard slam alright. Smile

I was hoping for a hard, fast one, but guessed it would be more subtle.

Funny how things work out. Because President Trump is so despised by the radical Left, district judges crawled out of the woodwork to block his actions on tariffs, military readiness, immigration, foreign affairs, fraud, abuse and many other issues (to paraphrase AG, Pam Bondi). Their very actions to block him from their little district courts led to the demise of their leftwing agenda.

I’m certain that most of us here never understood the interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment granting citizenship to the baby of any mother who could make it to American soil to give birth. Here’s hoping that one day soon the SCOTUS will review that amendment meant to secure citizenship for the children of slaves, and shut the door on the ridiculous interpretation we’ve been living with.

I don't know the inner workings of the SCOTUS, but I have to think the justices all have sizable staffs to boil stuff down and do the heavy lifting for them. I'm sure the legal giants enjoy writing their own opinions and what not. I bet Jackson probably has a staff like Kamala Harris had, who has to do everything for her. And they're probably even more clueless and arrogant, since they don't have to worry about elections.

They have already done that in United States v. Wong Kim Ark (1898) and decided in favor of the defendants. They will need to overrule that decision.

WTOP.com: University of Virginia president resigns under Trump administration pressure on DEI, AP source says

WASHINGTON (AP) — The president of the University of Virginia is resigning his position under pressure from the Justice Department, which had pushed for his departure amid scrutiny of the school’s diversity, equity and inclusion practices, a person familiar with the matter said Friday.

The departure of James Ryan, who had led the school since 2018, represents a dramatic escalation in the Trump administration’s effort to reshape higher education. Doing it at a public university marks a new frontier in a campaign that has almost exclusively targeted Ivy League schools. It also widens the rationale behind the government’s aggressive tactics, focusing on DEI rather than alleged tolerance of antisemitism.

Ryan had faced conservative criticism that he had failed to heed federal orders to eliminate DEI policies, and his removal was pushed by the Justice Department as a way to help resolve a department inquiry targeting the school, according to the person, who was not authorized to discuss the move by name and spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press.

...

The University of Virginia became a flashpoint after conservative critics accused it of simply renaming its DEI initiatives. The school’s governing body voted to shutter the DEI office in March and end diversity policies in admissions, hiring, financial aid and other areas. Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin celebrated the action, declaring that “DEI is done at the University of Virginia.”

Among those drawing attention to the Charlottesville campus was America First Legal, a conservative group founded by Trump aide Stephen Miller. In a May letter to the Justice Department, the group said the university failed to dismantle DEI programs and chose to “rename, repackage, and redeploy the same unlawful infrastructure under a lexicon of euphemisms.”

I guess I figured that, or we wouldn’t be living under the current interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment. The FDR Supreme Court ruled that Japanese Internment was Constitutional too, so another interpretation of this landmark ruling is in order.

They did nothing of the kind. The Wong Kim Ark decision ruled that the children of LEGAL RESIDENTS were U.S. Citizens, and today that means the children of Green Card Holders, or possibly people on immigrant visas that will lead to a green card eventually.

The court did not state that illegal aliens' children are citizens. Stop repeating leftist nonsense written by hacks intending to mislead the public.

I don't believe that ruling says that a baby of an illegal alien has citizenship. His parents were legally present in this country, though citizens of China. As I understand it, his parents' status was equivalent to having a green card today.

The ruling stated nothing about LEGAL residents, it stated "domiciled residents." Read the decision instead of jumping to conclusions.

In a 6–2 decision[108][109] issued on March 28, 1898,[110] the Supreme Court held that Wong Kim Ark had acquired U.S. citizenship at birth and that "the American citizenship which Wong Kim Ark acquired by birth within the United States has not been lost or taken away by anything happening since his birth."[111] The opinion of the Court was written by Associate Justice Horace Gray and was joined by Associate Justices David J. Brewer, Henry B. Brown, George Shiras Jr., Edward Douglass White, and Rufus W. Peckham.[112]

The Court stated "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" should be interpreted "in the light of the common law" which had included as subjects virtually all native-born children, excluding only those who were born to foreign rulers or diplomats, born on foreign public ships, or born to enemy forces engaged in hostile occupation of the country's territory.[1][113][114][115] The court's majority held that the subject to the jurisdiction phrase in the Citizenship Clause excluded from U.S. citizenship only those persons covered by one of these three exceptions (plus a fourth "single additional exception"—namely, that Indian tribes "not taxed" were not considered subject to U.S. jurisdiction).[4][38] The majority concluded that none of these four exceptions to U.S. jurisdiction applied to Wong; in particular, they observed that "during all the time of their said residence in the United States, as domiciled residents therein, the said mother and father of said Wong Kim Ark were engaged in the prosecution of business, and were never engaged in any diplomatic or official capacity under the Emperor of China".
