You've lost money today (on paper) and you're upset about it. I- we- understand that, but you asked for an explanation and then you rejected the explanation you were given.

Now, telling you as kindly as I can, this is not the way to behave. People here didn't make you the current focus of the thread; you did that.

My retirement has lost more than 3 times what skins has lost since Trump took office. And I couldn’t be happier because I know that we have a President that is doing what is best for the Republic.

Its funny, I as having the same conversation with my moderate coworker. He's panicking, cutting spending, expect the greatest depression. I was telling him, we are already there. Short term pain to fix 40-50 years of policy giving away our industry to foreign countries.

I believe the ability to "refinance" America's debt is a part of this, but as the video indicates, there are secondary and tertiary benefits to the tariffs that supposed experts cannot see or are purposefully keeping to themselves in order to sensationalize the market downturn for clicks and ratings.

Trump has a plan that he has spent several years reviewing with top economists, historians, and business leaders (those he could trust anyways). This is all supposition on my part, but the guy came in with a plan and he is executing it as well as anyone could. This is a masterclass in how to get shit done.

The RINOs and squishy republicans better get on board soon or they are going to look like complete buffoons and risk their seats when he (the President) delivers his "Golden Age of America".

I lost a shit ton of money today (nearly 6 digits). I am retired, but I see the bigger picture and have prepared for this (market downturns are guaranteed and if you are not prepared for them, then you truly have not prepared yourself for or will ever be ready to fully retire).

Shit, I am going to throw some money into the market tomorrow. It will not be much as my plan will not allow for it, but I am going to purchase something (Apple, Nvidia, Nike, whatever). And when it pops, I am going to buy myself something really nice.

My opinion of course...

I am in your boat (the mix in my Fed TSP and retirement-job Fidelity 403b are both heavy in stocks).

I haven't even looked at the numbers in the past two days. It's not that I don't care, it's that it doesn't matter. I'm confident that the "long game" will be fine.

I bought some Thursday and I’ll buy more today. I have many years as a time horizon

Go back 5 years to a week or 2 before covid lockdowns the market was in free fall. I was buying everything I could afford then. If you recall oil was actually priced negatively in the market for a brief period. I’m up so much on those spring 2020 investments it’s embarrassing. If you need the money next month probly not ideal to have it in the stock market. If you’re 40 and you got a 30 year mortgage and kids to support for 20 more years, Call HR and increase your 401k paycheck percentage .

Remember Warren Buffet. “Buy when others are fearful”.

Seriously, how does this guy stay on the air? I am sure CNBC, MSNBC or CNN, or whomever, is paying him some shiny coin for his bombastic act, but it wore thin a good 20 years ago.

I'm aware, so was a good bit of President Trumps current cabinet. He has come around like the others. He gives me a fair alternate view on some things which you will not get from CNN and the like

I will also be buying more stock/mutual funds today today

The impact that tariffs may be having on the market is but a sign of the advantages we've been deriving from near slave labor while accepting subpar quality, reliability and safety.

It's the market saying - okay, you've derived your benefits ahead of fair costs. Now you need to pay for some of the costs due.

Exec's treat a head as a head - off shore resources to India or whatever. We all know that a head is not a head. Who and where the head is matters.

Perhaps now we'll realize a widget is not just a widget. Where and how the widget is made matters.

Just need to tighten the belts a bit during the startup / investment phase.

ETA: this is just my personal view, which may be entirely wrong.
