From a statistics standpoint,

I'd very much like to see the teams play at arenas other than there own.

For at least 50% of the games,
Iowa and Illinois would play in Michigan.

Michigan and Wisconsin would play at Iowa.

Just to see just how much this " home team advantage"
Comes into play

Fun note from last night's games:

The James Madison University Dukes won, beating a team from Madison, Wisconsin. Who does JMU play next? Duke! Big Grin

As for today, I'd like to see Michigan State and Tennessee win their games.

God bless America.

Oakland played hard tonight, no doubt. It was a good game.

It's a good day here at Casa de vthoky -- the Wolfpack pulled it off, Tennessee beat Texas, and JMU is still in the mix.

I kinda wanted to see UNC get beat, but that's mostly because I've been pulled into the Wolfpack fan base by TLG (The Lovely Girlfriend) and I have Michigan State fans in the extended family.

God bless America.

Oakland was great - Gohlke can live off these 2 games forever. The guy that got Coach Cal fired Big Grin

Purdue and Tennessee but don't really care, looks like it will be forever before IU or UofL win again.

Back to the Future: It's been 44 years since Purdue has been to a Final Four.
Story by Matthew Glenesk, Indianapolis Star

The last time Purdue men's basketball reached a Final Four, Gene Keady had yet to coach a game for the Boilermakers.

It's been 44 years since Purdue, coached by Lee Rose, reached the national semifinals. It was the first Final Four Indianapolis hosted.

...

What was Matt Painter doing last time Purdue played in Final Four?
Painter was 9 years old, probably playing Little League baseball around the Muncie area dreaming of playing for the Chicago Cubs.

After Purdue pounded the Zags, I thought that there was no way anybody was going to beat them. Then I watched the UConn game yesterday. Holy crap, those guys looked unstoppable.

That's going to be your final and it'll be a helluva game.

Tator, congratulations from an IU alumnus. Been a long time coming for West Lafayette.

I’ve always thought Psinter was a good coach with a good attitude. I could dislike Keady back in the day, but I can’t bring myself to dislike Painter.

Many of my fellow Hoosiers observe that “Purdue has become what Indiana basketball used to be: smart, tough, resilient with kids that can shoot.” I’m not sure many (or any) of your team will have impactful NBA careers. But they play well together as a collegiate team and “don’t beat themselves.” I think that description also applied to Knight’s best teams. (Alas, Indiana hasn’t been relevant in the past 30 years.)

My daughter and son-in-law are UConn graduates. Not sure who I will root for, should the title game come down to you and the Huskies. After all, I went to school in Bloomington. But I will be looking for your Boilermakers to do the Big Ten proud.

Great job this year, I know the pride you must be feeling, getting to the Final Four.

^^ Thanks. It's been fun.

Painter was the starting point guard when I was a freshman. I've never met him, but I'm a fan of his.

Pretty amazing for a college basketball program to only have 2 coaches in 44 years.

I am an ACC fan. I wish NCSU could beat Purdue. Doubtful, though.

I texted my NCSU grad friend this evening, before the game. He was at a bar in Raleigh, enjoying the hype and the crowd. He joked: "If we win tonight, Raleigh may burn to the ground." Big Grin

Sorry it didn't work out, Pack fans, but it was a heck of a ride to the Final Four!

So. With 13 minutes left (as I write this), can Bama pull it out over UConn?

God bless America.

Tator -

Good luck in the final.

When my team has been in the final game, it seemed like blur. The games were over so quickly. Alas, those games were so long ago, home recording was a brand-new thing.

Make the Big Ten proud, Boilers. It’s been a few decades since this conference had a champion.
