Our resident UK fan at work will be grumpy tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing what NC State does with Texas Tech tonight, and of course VT vs Ohio State on Saturday. God bless America.

TT is always a pretty scrappy team. That should be a good one. Zags had no trouble with their first rounder. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.

Rupp Rafters chat board makes for entertaining reading this morning. Let’s see what the Cats are saying now: - Calipari is a “human pile of vomit.” - Several posters won’t watch another minute of UK basketball until Calipari is fired. - Someone is challenging any local UK fan to rent a moving van and park it in front of Calipari’s house. - Calipari is an “unfaithful POS.” - Calipari is a “washed up clown.” - Tubby Smith left UK but Calipari is staying because Calipari is white. (I can’t follow that logic… but these are Kentucky fans.) - The UK Athletic Director either is a POS, has no testicles, eats male sexual organs, has no brain, is in a relationship with Calipari, is a doofus, wears a cheerleading skirt while waiting for Calipari to get off the team plane… or a combination of the above. ,,, and yes, I am an Indiana fan. So I am biased in my reporting… and IU’s recent performance should preclude me from gloating over the misfortune of Kentucky fans. But I can’t help myself! This message has been edited. I'll be surprised if Calipari survives with his job. If I were a KY fan (and I'm NOT) I'd be wanting a change. They (he) has way under performed the last several years at tourney time. I think part of it is the heavy reliance on recruiting the young "stars" who will go pro after the first year. Results in no experienced team members at tourney time.

Drill Here, Drill Now |
I was talking smack in 2023 leading up to Purdue's first round game. Given the outcome of last year, I'm quiet as a church mouse this year. Arizona has a nasty habit of entering the tournament highly seeded, then losing, like they did to Princeton last year. They took care of business yesterday and spanked Long Beach State by 20. Go Cats. Bear Down. Today I’ll watch Nebraska against (no small amount of irony) Texas A&M, where Nebraska’s AD has landed, much to the surprise and chagrin of Husker faithful. Nebraska point guard, Keisei Tominaga, has been a big story this year, and he has generated a lot of interest from Japanese press. He’s fun to watch. _______________________________________________________ despite them

Samford was robbed by the phantom foul, with seconds to go, in the game against Kansas. But hey, we can't let the riff raff get above themselves. __________________________

Yes, pulling for Purdue (Wife's alma mater) as well. Not going to be talking any smack especially based on how they finished that game against Wisconsin.

He has a lifetime contract until he retires then becomes a full university ambassador for the remainder of his life. It’s going to cost them an unbelievable amount of money to get rid of him. Word is he has secured RIDICULOUS amounts of NIL money for the upcoming seasons. I’d be very surprised to see him let go by UK. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. $33.4 million to be exact, that's the buyout, then you'd have probably another $20 million to get a coach qualified and strong enough to handle working for the BBN. Doubt it will happen, Cal draws talent, he just needs better staff to run the game plan, but the boo birds have been out on his butt all year, and rightfully so, he's underperformed since 2019 with enough talent to fill a top level NBA team. Cals all about the players, La Familia is his catch phrase, the problem is it's only about players, and getting them into the NBA. He's lost a connection to the history, traditions, fans, donors, winning games. Of course there are two ways to fix it, 1) win games or 2) leave. Right now the GTFOT gang has got the fuel to push that fire...

Just like the fading of SU football from the great Syracuse football teams of the '60s and '70s under coach Ben Schwartzwalder (with players like Jim Brown, Ernie Davis, John Mackey, Floyd Little, Larry Csonka, Art Thoms, Dwight Freeney, Art Monk, and others), Syracuse basketball is a shadow of its former glory and this year again did not make the selection for the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year. I'm an old fart that misses those days. 46 players in the Jim Boeheim era have been drafted by NBA teams, with 23 of those being first-round selections. And no, I'm not an SU alumnus, just grew up in that area. Earned my degrees elsewhere.
