From the nation that requested the U.S.Navy to declare if it’s ships carried nuclear weapons before allowing them port visits. I’m sure all the NZ Members of government will be exempt and keep their firearms..

How many new criminals will be created because they refuse to turn in their legally purchased property?
I would bet it's a very high number.

Related question:
Do they already have gun registration in New Zealand? Does the government know who has what?

As we all know, registration is usually the first step toward confiscation.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

I don't know how all freedom loving, gun owners no matter where you live cannot care about this. Though it shouldn't be surprising I suppose, I'm nonetheless appalled by what's happening in New Zealand. It bothers me quite a bit.

In keeping with Para's "buy now" admonition, I submit that everyone consider some additions to the gun collection:

- A long magazine tube, King's loading gate, lever action rifle with a revolver in the same chambering.

- A telescopically sighted, bolt action rifle in a chambering greater than .24 caliber and a revolver.

Never hurts to add guns to the collection.

This is what happens when a country doesn't have a constitution spelling out the rights of it's citizen. While there's a bunch of laws and statues protecting various civil rights, all it takes is a majority in parliament to over-turn those previous laws...ergo, mob rule.

I feel bad for the lawful NZ firearm owners getting shafted but I think they will roll over and take it. Any protest they mount will be polite and have no effect. No 2A in in NZ and as a result, nothing really capable of stopping knee-jerk stupidity like the ban.

This is what the asshole said in his “maifesto”. Those fools and many here played right into it. (Some of it is written in a strange Q&A form).

“Why did you choose to use firearms?
I could have chosen any weapons or means.A TATP filled rental van. Household flour, a method of dispersion and an ignition source.A
ballpeen hammer and a wooden shield.Gas,fire,vehicular attacks,plane
attacks, any means were available. I had the will and I had the resources. I chose firearms for the affect it would have on social discourse, the extra
media coverage they would provide and the affect it could have on the
politics of United states and thereby the political situation of the world. The US is torn into many factions by its second amendment, along state, social, cultural and, most importantly, racial lines. With enough pressure the left wing within the United states will seek to
abolish the second amendment, and the right wing within the US will see
this as an attack on their very freedom and liberty. This attempted abolishment of rights by the left will result in a dramatic
polarization of the people in the United States and eventually a fracturing
of the US along cultural and racial lines.”

They are beyond stupid to make this knee jerk reaction. I have lost all respect for NZ’s government. Shame on them.

Time to take all the pointy tips off knives, get rid of automobiles, stop selling fertilizer and diesel fuel, etc. BTW, no slings and arrows. Prolly should get rid of ALL the rocks there too.

Do cops in NZ even carry firearms?

That's only step one of the two step plan. Say guns were banned legally in the US. What then? What does he propose be done with the millions upon millions of guns already out there in private hands? Some industrious retard in the media should ask him that very question and make him answer. The answer should help kill his political aspirations.

The only way to end murder is to remove the human race from the planet. Short of that, nothing will stop humans from killing each other.

Been saying that to my brother for YEARS!!! Preach it, chellim!!!

Within man there lies the inherent root of evil. If he can't use a gun, he'll use a knife. If he can't use a knife, he'll use a frying pan. If he can't use a frying pan, he'll use a jagged broken bottle. If he can't use a jagged broken bottle, he'll use a sharpened stick. If he can't use a sharpened stick, he'll use a blunt club. And on and on and on until you eventually get down past the rock to one's own bare hands.

You don't even have to go back to biblical times.

Even today, more people are killed with Blunt objects (clubs, hammers, etc.) than with all types of rifles, including so-called "assault rifles".

Agreed.

Even in prison where they have your ass 24 x 7 x 365, they can’t protect you from the severe violence that occurs inside those walls.
