How do they expect to sell on there if they never respond back to buyers ? Been trying to buy a damn generator for 2 days now. I've been through all 500 listed and could have bought one yesterday if the sellers would just check back on their posts. Useless, much like Craigslist sellers. A lot of damn scam ads for the Honda generators. Even a nice Honda powered Black Max I wanted to buy but the seller seems to have left the planet. The f'n Home Depot will get the sale now. Never again will I waste my time on Market Place.

How long ago was the ad posted and, did you give more than a few minutes for a reply? Wink

I spent two weeks trying to buy a treadmill off the marketplace. Guy replied after 3-4 days, I told him I could come get it the next day, then crickets. Its a month later now and its still listed for sale. I gave up and got a different one.

Here's to the sunny slopes of long ago.

It turns out, Home Depot has zero in stock at the local store. Just Ryobi which I don't want. The one Champion I was after has to be ordered and, it's a 4500 watt which is only made for Home Depot. The 4000 watt is identical but with 200 R P M slower max speed. I think I will just buy the 4000. As much as I wanted a Honda, they are out of my price range.

David you might want to check out Harbor Freight. Their generators are pretty good. I’ve had one for a few years and starts on the first pull.

Thank you. I had considered Harbor Freight but still wanted a Champion. I got a 4250 watt coming via Amazon. Been up early here again looking at materials for a weather proof shelter. The little Champion even has remote start with a key fob.

Man that Black Max with a 390 cc Honda would have been money well spent but I would be needing a much bigger gas can...lol

The internet may have supplanted (more properly, since they still exist) newspaper and ad paper advertising, but it has not changed people's behavior. This reminds me of the time in the late 80s or early 90s when I and my nephew went out looking for a jalopy car for him. Many people didn't even answer the phone. Of one who did, the car they wanted to sell was buried three rows back amongst other cars, was covered in a thick layer of dust, and had a dead battery.

I've had a fair amount of experience buying and selling on Facebook and Craigslist and initially found Facebook buyers and sellers to be more legitimate on whole but I'm not so sure anymore.

If a seller doesn't respond by the second day I forget them, but I've had a few that do respond after 2-3 days. Men, who are not on Facebook, often have their wife run and monitor the ad which can delay things.

I feel bad about not buying from a local seller like Home Depot but Noone wants to stock anything. Ordered this morning and it will be here Wednesday. I found a cool small plastic shed at the rear of c the property which will work nicely to keep the generator out of the rain and snow. Has 2 large swing out front doors. I will set that up on the back patio. Going to install a exhaust port, exhaust fan and air vent in its side walls. Heavy Styrofoam line the interior walls to quiet the motor. Believe it has a 212 cc engine.

Apparently this is why the AI bots at FB thought it was a good idea to make "Is this still available?" the default response for their listings. If there is a hell for AI-generated "intelligence," I hope they burn in it.

I try to buy used when I buy things. I also sell quite a bit of stuff when my kids outgrow their stuff.

It's BOTH buyers AND sellers who don't respond. I no longer get frustrated, it's just the way it is, unfortunately.

There's a lot of scammers, tire-kickers and game-players on these platforms and it's almost not even worth it anymore.

I don't know how the scammers get away with it on FB except perhaps Noone moderates the mess. There are loads of ads for the little Honda inverter for $59.00 and $89.00. They show stacks of them on pallets for sale. Trouble is, they cost between $1,199.00 and $1,299.00 all day long. Some barely used for $800.00.

Never occurred to me that was a bot. It is a PITA to see it in every posting.

Well okeedokee, it's just 3 days late. Still showing it will deliver today. It was supposed to arrive Wednesday. If it don't show on Saturday, the order gets canceled. I will not try to buy one after that. Failure all around.

I also get a lot of tire kickers from there. I had one guy tell me numerous times he was on the way to get the items I listed at a great price, as I just wanted them gone. Kept getting texts he was on the way from his home and then an hour later he states he is now leaving work but has to go home first. I told him forget it and wound up giving the stuff away.

The order was canceled and my money returned. I needed that darn machine delivered when they said it would be here. It's too late now and I won't buy one now.

FBMP has more tire kickers than people who want to do business.

When I sold stuff on there, I set the pickup a block away from home at a Subway. Told them to message me when they got there as it took me 1.5 minutes to get there. Got burned a few times waiting for people at a place in the middle. I don't have time for that.
