I am about to go out of my mind. Today alone I received 30 texts begging me for money…. How did this happen? Well, I donated a couple bucks to Winred for GOP candidates. Now every Republican running for any office anywhere has my number… Cripes!!!! And they wonder why they can’t raise money??? This is why!!!! I have to block sender and then delete and block and they still keep coming. This has been happening for the last couple weeks. I am about to go out of my skull. I even went to Winred and deleted my account. Did not do shit!!! Anyone have some tech savvy that can assist in me ending this text madness?

Would love to know, myself. After donating to Trump and GiveSendGo, I get spam about ten times a day. Mr. President, you haven't been "trying to get hold of me all day long". "Cliff Maloney", whomever/whatever you are, I really don't care about New Jersey elections. I somehow was able to unsubscribe from (I think) some brobeard adventure/lifestyle stuff I never signed up for I think related to one of Trump's sons. I'm now reporting them all as phishing, since unsubscribing doesn't seem to work. Actually, that doesn't seem to work, either. I'm usually good about noting any opt-in check boxes, but I don't think you get the option in some cases-or they really don't care. It's a shame that stuff like this not only discourages contributing, but kinda makes you hate the very organization or people you want to help.

You gave money to some organization that sold your information. I despise the practice and it makes me unlikely to support the cause again.

If you’re getting multiple texts from the same number, you can block those. If they’re spoofing random numbers, that’s a tougher nut to crack.

I have my iPhone set up such that texts from people that aren’t in my Contacts app are routed to the “Unknown Senders” box. I usually have the “Known Senders” box displayed. Occasionally I open the “Unknown Senders” box. Then “Select All” then “Delete”. Serious about crackers.

You give money to your preferred political candidate, and they sell that information off to everyone. Someone stated this above and it’s accurate. I will never give a nickel, since they don’t make pennies no more, to anyone ever again. I just report all the texts as spam and delete them. Looking forward to changing my cell number also. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I have donated to St. Judes a few times, and they have obviously sold their doners list to others. Now I get mail from charities I didn't even know existed!!

If I want to donate without getting on a begging list, I mail a check. For this purpose, I use checks that do not have any identifying information printed on them; no address, no phone number, nothing. In fact, you are not even required to have your name printed on a check, as long as the check has a valid routing number and account number. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

This. I've had mine set up this way since last election season when I was inundated with calls and texts. 15-20 a day. I couldn't take it anymore. Now? There's peace. The occasional one will get through, but it stops 99.9% of them. ________________________________________________________ It is long past time for a Convention of States. This is why, when I go car insurance shopping shortly (comes up for renewal Dec. 21st), I'm going to visit the agency's or broker's offices in person to get my quote. I don't want my phone or e-mail box spammed. "The Almighty, He put some livin' things on this earth so a man can eat." - Festus Haggen, Gunsmoke

I'm super picky about who gets my cell number. I don't call people whom i don't want to have it from my cell phone. I have land lines at the store and at the house. When i empty the spam folder on my Gmail, it's 99.9% begging emails from someone. __________________________ Writing the next chapter that I've been looking forward to.

I get these political gimme money texts a lot. I will never send them a cent again. Delete. Delete. Delete. There are a few pro-2A Congress critters that I send donations to, when they send me a snail mail letter. But the text spammers get nothing. _________________________ 2nd Amendment Defender The Second Amendment is not about hunting or sport shooting.

I am sick of unsolicited texts period. What if I didn’t have an unlimited plan? The most I get are political posts from both sides of the isle that I never subscribed to. I get at least 2-3 a day if not more. Then the several texts a day from people doing roof inspections in the area, tree trimming, or do I want to sell my home. Right now I am getting so many No Kings Day texts it isn’t funny. I have no idea how I am on their list and I always reply with a whole bunch of pro-Trump messages. I normally never reply so they don’t know they got a good number, but I can’t help it with the No Kings ones. NRA Benefactor Life Member

I can't remember the name of the comedian, but one of them: I wish someone would find out who invented the mass autotext and turn loose a server farm continuously texting/spamming every device and every account that MF'er owns. He/she unleashed a plague upon society, and I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part! I type "stop" and reply. I find this has been most effective, as I think it removes you from the list, so if the list gets resold, you are not on it. I was getting a lot of those, but I haven't had one in over a month now that I do the "stop" thing. Worse is that some fucker sold my number to the democrats... As stated. You gave up your number, it's been sold, so it is out there. (you know that part) All you can really do is wait it out. It will take about 6 months for the majority of this to stop. "Typing "STOP" (Messaging), "Unsubscribing" (email), reporting numbers/blocking (phone/messaging), all have their up and don sides. "STOP/Unsubscribe" only work if the "senders" are legit/honest, scammers and selfish sources are not. So, unless it it a legit entity, do not use either to prevent further messages/email. Make a rule, block number and ignore. Eventually they will fall off to near zero. The dishonest will just use your requests as confirmation that your a life body. Reporting phone numbers and text messaging to carriers or others does very little, but is mostly a "boiling water tearing up sheets" to make you feel like you are doing something, and is a placebo. I got a new number in July, it was a number that someone had for business and this cat must have opted into everything, (or he made pissed someone off and they did it for him and why he dumped the number...) The phone was getting calls, text spam as well as legit customers and others texting calling and leaving VM messages. I responded to those that were obviously customers (older folks and such that were asking for him to call them back and the calls were real as they left name, number, street addresses and requesting service/call back). Almost all were courteous and polite and responded "thank you/sorry", and never heard from them again. A couple were from bill collectors and I ignored them for a while, then finally called a couple and pretty much let on that I might tend to honeybees in a very un-sweet sort of way. They stopped. The other stuff I block the number for phone calls and text messages(if there is a phone number), delete the VM. No calls are answered from those not in my contacts, they do not ring, but go directly to VM (if they leave a message), otherwise they drop and I see them in the call list and block. I never, ever call them back (unless it is a legit bill collector or company that I can verify by looking up the entity or phone number, then I will call and tell them about my bees. It will decline in a curve, sort of "half life" process. But it will get better. Never, ever use a real email, phone number or anything that can reveal them to registering, donating etc. Use Gmail/Google or some other "throw away" service for a phone number or email needed for such things. They cost nothing. (this will be fine until the google starts selling off subscribers info...) It is frustrating, but you can get past it. It's been about 6 months, and my current number is down to a few text/calls a week and almost un-noticed now. My prior number I had had for almost 20 years as my business/professional/personal number. It had a good bit of incoming non-personal calling just as a result the nature of my work, but it fell off in about 6 months.
