So even if the hospital chooses to continue to employ medical marijuana users, I suspect they still have a policy against being under the influence while at work. If not, they're wide open for a major lawsuit when a nurse makes a medical mistake while under the influence of medical marijuana.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This is correct. Additionally if there is an accident at work, you will be drug tested. If positive for marijuana you are terminated. The fact that cannabis metabolites are present 28 days out presents a problem for the worker. The Dot does random testing and if positive, evaluation occurs by a SAP{substance abuse professional} who solely determines what is needed.

You want to get high, go home and knock yourself out. I am not required to get a contact high just to carry out my daily life.

Checkout clerks, blasted out of their minds, smelling like weed it is obnoxious.

Cigarette smoke was never this bad.

Our Chick-fil-A cashier reeked of marijuana. Took her 35 minutes to get our drinks.

South of town when I go to see my cousin there’s one stretch of road that as I get clos to it I either roll up my windows or if the heater or A/C are on the recirculating button is pushed. About knocks me off the bike as I go down that stretch of road. Somebody has to have a helluva grow patch around there.

The weed in the 60’s and 70’s never smelled as bad as this shit.

The tiny town grocery store has started carrying Vape stuff,
Three hundred of the gizmos in a glass show cases.

The little old ladies that cashier are thoroughly appalled by there existence and don't think they should be legal.

Here's the thing,
Two of them are pack and a half a day smokers.

The genie is out of the bottle and is never going back in. I was a FED in MD before retirement and our US attorney (herself a rabid liberal) openly told officers that since the state had decriminalized marijuana possession, she didn’t care if we ever brought a simple possession case before her again. She couldn’t come out and say “don’t bring them”; that could have jammed her up seeing as how it was still illegal federally, but her attitude was as clear as it was disgusting.

Well, let's not get carried away here... Wink

Yeah, not trying to take sides, but you used to have the right to smoke inside of a commercial airplane. While it was in the air. They were marketed as a weight loss solution and pushed on GIs by the military. Smoking for pregnant women was allowed to be encouraged by the tobacco companies. And they were also allowed to use children’s cartoons to advertise their products.

Cigarettes used to be everywhere, including offices, restaurants, and every other enclosed space you can think of.

Imagine getting on an elevator where several of the people inside had lit cigarettes or going into a nursery to pick up your kid and half the staff is smoking. I’m being hyperbolic, but these types of situations were, at one point, allowed to happen and almost universally accepted.

Not saying the weed situation isn’t out of control. I experience what the op experiences all the time (in a state where it is still illegal in every way). But it’s nowhere near as ubiquitous as cigarettes were and, despite what we now know, still are.

I do not care-- very much-- who smokes, or what they smoke, with the usual caveats about "don't be under the influence if you're doing something that can hurt somebody other than YOUR dumb ass." Same as alcohol.

Didn't care very much when I worked, either. As far back as 20 years ago, the "declination policy" in the district where my office sat basically meant that nobody would be charged with simple possession outside the context of a correctional institution, etc. Distribution-style quantities still had huge thresholds before a federal prosecutor would consider the case.

But the modern stuff is truly nauseating to be around, IMO. I don't want to smell that shit. If you insist on subjecting me to it, don't be shocked if I do some passive-aggressive stuff that you find equally offensive.

And-- for the love of God-- please stop pretending that smoking ANYTHING has a medical/therapeutic benefit that exceeds the harm involved. Wanna argue for edibles, etc, I might actually be in your corner... but "Yeah, lighting this on fire and inhaling particle-laden smoke is GOOD for me" doesn't pass any kind of straight-face test.

I was thinking about this thread Tuesday evening, when I was driving home from dinner with the windows down and one of the cars near me at a light was emanating such a vile skunk stench that I had to roll my windows up.

For the record, I don't smoke weed and never have, nor have I ever been under its influence in any way.)

C'mon... Can't you let me enjoy my drive home? Or, if you're going to insist on getting blasted while behind the wheel (please don't, the cops and EMS here already have enough on their plates without having to putyour dumb ass back together) can you at least pay the little bit extra for something that isn't dogshit quality? That way it's still disgusting but it's at least less offensive.

Interesting. I've probably rented hundreds also and I've never once looked under the seats.

When I started traveling regularly back in 2001, I heard that other travelers would buy items like drugs, alcohol or pornography that they wanted on the road but didn’t want their wife knowing about and would stash those items under seats in rental cars, or under the drawers in hotel rooms. So I always looked.

I never found any of those in a rental car but have found maps and CD cases when those were things people carried.

In hotels though I found a lot of pornography under dresser drawers. I never touched it, I mean I know what the last guy did with it, but I used to find it probably 10-20% of the time. I’ve also either found or been given sealed containers of alcohol. Just a few months ago I was in Vegas and one day a maid was cleaning a room across the hall and asked me if I wanted this cooler full of stuff. I accepted, mainly for the cooler as the hotel didn’t have a mini-fridge, but the alcohol got used too.

If they (LEO) ask to search your car or look in your car, the answer is always "no, sir." Reference the song, 99 Problems for applicable discussion.

MJ threads are interesting to watch now versus five years ago.

Seems five years ago that people were more tolerant of legal weed. Now, as weed is decriminalized in many places, and the baggage that comes with it is no longer theoretical, and the overall opinion seems to have shifted.

An “additional” benefit of Michigan’s legalization for marijuana for recreational purposes, excerpt from Duke University article:

Michigan was one of these “Permanent Brady Permit” states from 2006 until the end of 2019, but the state legalized recreational marijuana sales starting in December 2019. The state did not modify its CPL program, however, to screen out marijuana users. Marijuana remains unlawful under the federal Controlled Substances Act. Federal firearm statutes, such as 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(3) prohibit regular users of controlled substances, including marijuana, from possessing or transporting any firearms.

About two weeks ago, on March 3, 2020, the ATF Acting Director issued a Public Safety Advisory to all licensed firearm dealers in Michigan, effectively revoking this substitution in Michigan. All licensed gun dealers in Michigan must now conduct NICS background checks for all firearm sales, even if the purchaser has a valid concealed carry permit
