Not one handed. My thumbs are shot. I tried six revolvers and could not cock one. Arthritis and bad wrists, I'm afraid to shoot a Magnum with less than a four inch barrel. I love revolvers. Didn't mean to go off half cocked, Rant over.

Nice pun. Do you dislike hammerless revolvers?

Nope. 642. As a side question, are there wraps to put around your wrists to help with recoil?

Those lightweight snubbies in .38 can be real kickers. Have you considered a .32 H&R? It can shoot a variety of power loadings & kick a whole lot less without giving hardly anything up to the .38. Plus you get an extra round in the cylinder. Rom 13:4 If you do evil, be afraid. For he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.

Have you looked into a Tyler T-grip?

Just did, interesting. Found a Blackhawk I can barely cock, the others my wild twists and contortions trying to cock with one hand has deemed it to be unsafe. So two hands for my SA's. Just a bummer.

This is scary. I have several friends that are having similar problems. Difficulty working the slide on automatics and seemingly much more sensitive to recoil from hard kicking rifles and shotguns. The solution seems to be practicing and shooting .22 rifles and pistols more. I think S&W and Ruger both make some semi-autos that have slides that are easy to rack. Good Luck.

Shoot double action revolvers. Just stroke that action. The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

That was my first thought also. My next thought was that you were talking about cocking a SA revolver. If you insist on cocking one-handed, the only thing I can think of is to cock the hammer as you come out of the holster, with the side of your thumb, as gunfighter used to do No, Daoism isn't a religion

How about a lever gun hammer extension to increase the surface area on the hammer?

Sorry to hear. Watched my father go from shooting Freedom Arms and Desert Eagles to having to get him 50 gr .380 Liberty ammo to shoot in his p238. (He had been carrying a Rohrbaugh R9) One of our last times at the range he was shooting my Colt Targetsman .22; and limpwristing it so bad he was getting ftf/fte every 3 or4 rounds. I could not duplicate it.

When the .327 Federal cartridge came out I wanted one but could only afford about one gun per year back then.

Sorry for your father, I'm not that bad yet. I got out a whole bunch out last night. I can still rack all the slides, but my thumb could not release one slide and about half the mag buttons. Life could be worse, Don't worry, be happy.

Rather than trying to use your thumb on the slide lock lever, use your whole hand over top of the slide to rack the slide to release it from slide lock. Pull the slide all the way to the rear then release your whole hand to allow the spring to send the slide fully forward. Takes the thumb out of the equation, both from trying to pinch the rear of the slide and from trying to press the slide lock lever down. Uses the strength of your entire hand's grip instead. ![]() ![]()

Many years ago I was a Reserve Police Officer . This was a long time ago when revolvers were the issue weapon . On the first day of range training the RO threatened us with our lives . He said " If I see ANYBODY cock the hammer on their weapon there will be hell to pay, " That was 40 years ago and I still shoot DAO .

I'm sure that's good training for an LEO, but I'm just plinking. To extend my arm and cock and fire six times at tin cans is just fun! Every day is not so serious.

Hard to shoot a single action revolver without cocking it, though.
