Remember when the carriers wore uniforms and were well groomed? The carrier I had the other day had really poor hygiene and looked homeless. Maybe all of us including professionals should dress like slobs.

Mailed a package to Los Angeles. Made it 75 miles before it sat for 3 days.

It was Priority.

My experience is that USPS is fine in rural areas, in fact it's better than UPS or FEDEX. In urban areas USPS is awful.

Our local USPS delivery guy rocks. He has brought packages to our house when they wouldn’t fit in the lockers at the neighborhood postal box array. He has asked my wife about me and me about my wife when he doesn’t see one of us walking the dog for a while. Our local post office is almost as good.

Now mailing something ANY distance at all is a mess. It takes way longer than any other method except FedEx Ground. And their tracking system is terrible. I’ve had stuff get delivered and their system will show it undelivered. And vice versa.

Went to our local Post Office building this morning about 10 AM to ship a return package for the wife.. Upon arrival the parking lot only 1 open spot.. Inside have 4 station windows....Upon entry 10 customers waiting / 2 employees servicing people getting passports/ 1 employee servicing regular customers/ 1 service window not occupied... Had several customers come in after me and got tired of waiting and left the building.... After I was taken care the same 2 passport applicants were still at the counter and there was still 10 other customers waiting in line for service behind me.
No love for the Post Office Building employees but my delivery carrier is awesome....... drill sgt....

They have been a dinosaur and a taxpayer money waster like Amtrak for decades. Hopefully 47 disbands the agency and privatizes the mail service.

I waited at my office all afternoon for a package that was "out" for delivery".Around five I received notice that it was a "failed delivery". The message further stated that if I was not there it would be sent back. These are unacceptable games.

I sent an RMA back to the Sig Store on December 10th via USPS Ground (Dis)Advantage.

I had made a mistake in my first order on Black Friday, and placed a second order, but Sig couldn't cancel the first order by the time I could get through to them. So I received both, and they gave me an RMA to send the first one back. Shipping to me was free so I just had to pay return shipping.

It's a Romeo X going to Sig Optics in Oregon, it showed up in Chicago on the 11th, on the 15th it says "in transit arriving late" and that's all. I think it's because I returned it in the Haz Mat box it came in because apparently 2032 lithium batteries are an explosion hazard now. Haz Mat can't go by air so it's truck only, but 10 days it should show a scan somewhere.

So I called and they said I was 1 day late to do an inquiry because you have to do that in 14 days. I submitted a lost package search on the website but it says in the fine print they cannot search for Haz Mat packages so it probably won't do any good.

Despite rarely getting insurance because I've never had anything lost in shipping and only one thing damaged, I insured it for the full value thankfully. And I'm sorta glad I followed the rules with the Haz Mat box because you have to say what it is in the lost report and insurance claim. USPS website says you can't file a claim for lost ground advantage packages until 45 days, but no more than 60 days. Sounds like a same to make people miss the window.

At least some of you have an idea where the package is. All my tracking says is “moving thru the network”. A priority mail package has been doing that since Dec 21

Yeah, this. Our post office deliveries are always timely and our carrier has been working there for over ten years. He is a nice guy, I know him well.

I’m out in BFE and the first year there, half my mail disappeared (later found some of it in the ditch down the road). Since then we’ve had a great carrier. I get great service from UPS cause I give my drivers beer. ;-)

I have had the opposite experience with rural carriers. I've only had one good one and she still delivers the mail at my dads house where I grew up. She's been doing it going on 40 years probably and has to be close to retiring. The rest? Mostly useless. All they seem capable of is occupying the seat of a vehicle because they damn sure don't try to get the right mail in the correct boxes. Piss poor management creates piss poor employees and their work reflects this.

It really is remarkable just how bad the USPS has gotten

I ordered some CPAP supplies and keep checking the tracking and now it’s “delayed“ and basically telling me that it’s “somewhere” but they don’t really know.

How is it I can order something on Amazon and have it the next day or at most a day after?

This is now going on five days

I think Amazon should take over the Postal Service.

A member on another forum was gifting me some pilots for a vintage case trimmer. He has sold over 20K items on a well known auction site, with very few mailing issues. He sent the items in a small padded envelope right after Thanksgiving, from Wyoming to Alabama. The package is still MIA.

About a month ago I mailed a card inside a brown letter envelope to my mother. The PO charged me extra postage, for "holiday purposes" I was told. ??? It took 5 days from Birmingham metro to Pensacola. About 2 weeks later, my mother sent me and my wife a card from Pensacola to Birmingham metro and it took 2 days. She had a regular stamp on the card.

My employer has had numerous mailing issues within the last 2 years, especially dealing with accounts payable and receivable. We had a block of checks (accounts payable) stolen from the mail about a year ago. All of that type of mail is taken directly to the PO and dropped off inside. Personally, I think the theft is an inside job somewhere within the local mail system.

Our weekday carrier is a sweetheart. The crew at the local branch is pleasant and easy to work with. The system -- particularly the tracking -- stinks.

God bless America.

I have a package that has been stuck in Chicago "Moving through network" for two weeks now.

I will give the vendor a shit one star review for simply not going with UPS or FedEx.
