Picked up a RDS from Primary Arms in TX over the Black Friday weekend. Went out on Nov. 30 via Priority mail. Arrived at Cincinnati OH distribution center on Nov. 3 where it hasn’t moved since. Not sure how OH is in a path between TX and FL, but apparently it is to the USPS. Priority my butt!!

I sent some checks via USPS to my Merrill-Lynch account to be deposited. They had to go 4 MILES!! They never made it!! It took me almost 3 months to stop payment on the checks and get them re-issued. They were never cashed, or tried to be cashed. The re-issued checks were hand carried to M-L and deposited!!

I had vendor payments that went missing mailed on 3 separate days in late October. All 3 finally showed up about 3 weeks later. I had issued new checks for all 3.

For the most part, First Class mail considering the volume is amazingly good. Priority Mail somehow seems second rate. But they seem to screw up in batches.

I have five packages that are 3-5 days late and who knows when they will be here. Right now for me it seems Denver is the problem spot, they hit there and die for several days.

USPS has it's issues, for sure. But overall, I've had FAR better luck with USPS over any other carrier. UPS is "fine" I suppose, but FedEx is the worst. I've finally begun not making the purchase if that's the only option available.

I ship hundreds of packages via USPS per year, both personal and in work I do with a non-profit. Over the past 4 years, I've only had one package go missing, and three packages significantly delayed (say, longer than 2 days later than expected) and one other that was 2 weeks late (went from California to Chicago to Hawaii, and finally to New York).

Agreed. UPS is generally good, but FedEx ground is not good. FedEx Overnight is fine, but expensive. USPS is generally reliable, with the odd temporarily missing package. They have almost always showed up, even if three or four days later than expected.

I placed an order for a new Thermapen last Sunday. Shipped out from Utah on Monday, Dec 02. Standard 2 - 5 day shipping. It made it from Utah to Indianapolis on Dec 05. It hasn't moved since and its only 30 miles away from me.

I ordered two 1-gallon jugs of cleaner off of Amazon. The seller shipped them through the USPS. The shipment still hasn't arrived and Amazon says that it is expected by the 13th. If it doesn't show up by then, I can cancel on the 14th. Looking at the tracking info, it first hit a carrier facility in West Memphis. It then moved on to Memphis, followed by Nashville. Now, bear in mind, I'm 30 miles SE of Nashville. The next update is its arrival in Greensboro, NC where it has seemingly been stuck for 3-4 days.

Oh, how I wish Elon and Vivek could fix the USPS.

Alls I got to say is when you bitch about the USPS, keep in mind that Palmetto, Ga. distribution center has a 36% on time delivery rate.

I ship about a hundred a month, almost all USPS, and any ammo UPS,
success rate in deliver is very very high, had a few get damaged (by both) over the years, and one or 2 get lost (by both),

NEVER believe the delivery day provided by USPS, it is rarely right, and tracking can be off a day or 2 as well,


Fed Ex Express, usually good to go, Fed Ex ground, contractors provide the service, and it is, in this area, greatly improved, but way too spotty to be remotely reliable,

Priority package, flat rate shipping. Don't think it's going to be delivered in Pennsylvania tomorrow. This screenshot was less that 1 hour ago. Distance between Austin Arkansas and Little Rock, 25 miles.

As of 0900 December 19 (today) it is still sitting in the Little Rock Package Sorting Facility. Chances of being delivered today in Pennsylvania....ZERO.

I have 3 parcels that are all going to be almost a week later than USPS initially quoted. They all 3 were "in our network" for days and finally started moving. One of them was from Orlando to fucking Atlanta.

A coworker ordered an espresso machine from a distributor in Wichita last week to be delivered to SW MO. The company shipped it USPS, and it is currently somewhere in Massachusetts after having taken a grand tour of the US. No estimated delivery date.

He canceled that order and ordered a replacement direct from the factory in England. Shipped via FedEx. Ordered on Tuesday, delivered today.

2+ week domestic delivery via USPS.
2 day international delivery via FedEx to middle of nowhere Missouri.

They can't privatize USPS fast enough.

I ordered something from a place near Tallahassee and it shipped, two weeks ago, via USPS. It got to about 20 miles from my home in one day, then some genius in the PO sent it out to El Paso (yup Texas!) and three days later it limped back to Florida and was delivered.

Amazon is about the only place we order from and get the stuff right and quickly-and now they are on strike.

I'm working in South Dakota, and wasn't able to get back to Wisconsin for Thanksgiving. I mailed a Thanksgiving card to my mother on the 20th of November. She received it December 10th. We are only 575 miles apart. I vote to bring back the Pony Express.

Sent a knife back to Benchmade in Oregon from Texas. 10 days, went to Ohio first.

Sent a package to Alaska. Went to Hawaii first.

USPS lost V.A. meds. "Since the package distribution center won't return our calls or messages, there is nothing we can do."

A couple years ago, I had an online vendor not disclose they were drop shipping from China instead of the vendor's East Coast location. The package made it from China to San Fran to Houston USPS processing (~10 miles from my house) in 4 days. Very reasonable.

Then, the USPS roller coaster began and each step below is 1 to 2 days. Houston --> dyslexic version of my zip code which is about 90 miles away --> Houston --> correct zip code post office --> Houston --> correct zip code post office --> Houston --> Chicago --> China

I'm signed up for USPS Informed Delivery which means I have a profile with them that includes my e-mail address and phone number. The system was sending updates at each step. The asshats could have easily held it at my post office for me to pick up rather than shipping back to China. At least 10x per week, I drive within 1.5 miles of my post office so stopping by my post office would have been a hell of a lot less hassle than dealing with the vendor once it arrived back in China (turned into a shit show and had to get my credit card company involved).

I think the forum needs a sticky thread for USPS complaints. This is about the tenth such thread. We all are tired of the poor or non-existent service. I use Fedex Ground now. Still crazy expensive to send a small box to my daughter for Christmas. $22!
