After the disappointments of the last Presidential election, followed shortly thereafter by the push for more gun control, then the passage of the anti-gun laws in the state, then the wildfires...

... well, it just seemed that there has been so much recent bad news here that I had been mentally preparing myself for another loss.

We worked so very hard on this recall, don't get me wrong, and I have so much admiration and appreciation for all of my fellow resistance fighters who helped make this win possible that I shouldn't have doubted our potential.

But still, I'm having a hard time taking in the fact that we actually won a victory against the Bloomberg machine.

Years ago I worked for a globally recognized company that, by most all standards, would have been considered HUGE... they had a company culture that enabled/ promoted the celebration of achieved goals for a nano second before we all were expected to roll are sleeves up and go back to work fighting to achieve the next goal...

... I think that is what I'm going today. There is so much work left to do with the anti-gun laws still in place and anti-gun politicians still in office... but I'm going to sit back tonight and just try to savor this victory for a nano second before we try to tackle the next battle.

Thank you all for your support on this... it really is very much appreciated and I hope you will continue to support us in our future battles.

I also hope that this win for Colorado will lead to wins in other states!

This is fantastic news, a great victory for the citizens of Colorado.

My wife is happy as her family is from Colorado and a recent CPL/CCW holder. She has become very politically aware.

I still don't trust Obama. We can let our guard down for a moment.

According to the secretary of state of Colorado, Bloomberg and his buddies (including the teachers union) outspent the challengers $10 to $1 to try to keep the bastards that ignored their constituents. They still lost because even in the democrat areas of Colorado, people still want their second amendment rights and Bloomberg has no idea how strongly this runs in the west.

Bahahahaaa, oh now that is just precious. So let me see if I've got this right... all the voters that would have supported her if they had been able to mail in their ballot couldn't be troubled to make it to the polls to support her... and yet the pro-recall supporters somehow found the time to appear in person to cast their vote. Oh, and by some strange anomaly this same pattern repeated itself in the Morse recall as well?

The B.S. meter is pegged... good for the interviewer for calling her on it.

Gotta have an excuse. It can't be because they and their socialist masters are wrong, and it cost them dearly.

No, It must be someone else's fault.

Well, as the dust continues to settle from our successes with the Morse & Giron recalls I thought it was time to post another update.

Lo & behold, our successes last month have spawned another attempt. A group from state Senate District 19 have been approved to start gathering names on their petition to recall Evie Hudak.

New recall effort targets state Sen. Evie Hudak

As the article points out, we're fairly "election weary" here... but the unfortunate reality is that whether this recall election goes forth or not, national and state elections seem to be starting earlier than ever so at some level we are all facing this phenomenon.

It will be interesting to see how much financial support Bloomberg & company kick in to fight this recall.

Although the second prong of the counter-offensive has taken a back seat to the recent recall efforts, rest assured that the lawsuit is going forth. As a matter of fact, the Rocky Mountain Gun Owners have filed a separate lawsuit from the initial one filed that included our Sheriffs.

The Governor has attempted to have the Sheriffs dismissed from the lawsuit for lack of standing, however the Sheriffs have filed a reply and have made some very interesting & valid points that would seem to support their inclusion as plaintiffs.

Again, I don't want to give a play by play on the legal wranglings as I am not a lawyer... but part of the Sheriff's justification to remain as plaintiffs is their use of Posse Comitatus. Not that it is used on a daily or weekly basis, but it has been used in some incidences, and at least considered as an option in other instances. Some of the examples took place years ago, however there have been some recent cases where it was used.

In one example, a Sheriff deputized an individual to assist with a dangerous traffic stop. During the course of the stop the Sheriff was shot and killed by the vehicle occupants, at which point the deputized individual fired off an entire mag of 17 rounds at the vehicle as it sped away, with one round striking a tire and causing the fugitives to abandon their vehicle.

As I mentioned before, the issues this lawsuit addresses will potentially have a rippling effect as to not only this case but others nationally.

No you are not. Neither are we.
Pueblo maybe.
Colorado Springs maybe.

But not Arvada to West Westminster just south of Broomfield.
They have not had their turn yet.

Yes, we are. Here in Colorado Springs we had an election in April, the recall in September, and the November elections are around the corner, and of course the mid-term elections are next year.

Don't misunderstand me, I'm thrilled that SD-19 is going forward with the recall effort and I wish them the best... but I have concerns that people will burn out on the election process (national, state, local) and it might be tougher to get them energized for this recall.

With the part that Senator Hudak played during the hearings and the way she treated the young sexual assault victim who testified against the anti-gun bills she deserves to be recalled.

Colorado Governor asks gun control groups to stay out of possible third recall election
quote:
While some have claimed the recent elections heralded the death of conservatives and the tea party, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper does not share their enthusiasm, and is asking outside gun control groups to stay out if a third state recall election occurs against another anti-Second Amendment lawmaker.

In September, state residents organized a grassroots recall against a pair of Democratic state senators who voted in favor of several party-line votes over a series of gun-control bills that were among the strictest in the nation.

Displaying their outrage, citizens in Pueblo and Colorado Springs launched a first-ever recall election against Senate president John Morse and Sen. Angela Giron. The recall was the first in the state’s history.

Recognizing the ramifications politicians being recalled would have on future attempts to restrict firearms ownership, gun control groups sprang into action, spending large sums of money to support the legislators targeted for recall.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg personally donated $350,000 to Taxpayers for Responsible Government; an “issue committee” that attempted to help the legislators retain their seats was formed by Julie Wells, a Democratic fundraiser from Kentucky. Los Angeles billionaire Eli Broad contributed $250,000 to Wells’ organization, which then gave $420,000 to the two defense committees.

The Washington, D.C.-based Sixteen Thirty Fund gave $35,000 to help Giron fight the recall while Citizens for Integrity and Mainstream Colorado, both Denver-based organizations donated $20,000 and $15,000 respectively. Additionally, the American Federation of State, Federal and Municipal Employees union, based in Washington, D.C., contributed $3,500.

However, the gun control groups did not get a good return on their investment. In September, voters voted to recall the pair, leaving Democrats with a slim, one vote majority in the state senate.

However, even that lead could evaporate as residents are now attempting a third recall.

When the idea for the recalls first began, among the legislators targeted for recall was Evie Hudak, a two-term Democrat in a suburban district north of Denver. However, gun rights citizens initially decided against a recall against Hudak, fearing that three simultaneous campaigns would dilute their grassroots resources too much, choosing instead to focus on Morse and Giron, who they felt were more vulnerable.

Residents have until Dec. 3 to collect 18,900 signatures in order to initiate a recall election against Hudak. If Hudak were to befall the fate of her colleagues, the senate would swing back to a Republican majority, which would be able to prevent a repeat of the last legislative session where a host of liberal causes became law on issues including civil unions, abortion, and gun control.

While Hickenlooper would prefer the recall not take place at all, if it does there is something else he wants to prevent from repeating itself. The Democratic governor has asked Bloomberg and other outside gun control groups to sit this one out if Hudak were to face the voters in a recall.

“Colorado is a state that people like to be themselves and solve their own problems,” the Democratic governor said in an interview with Capital Download, USA TODAY’s weekly video newsmaker series. “They don’t really like outside organizations meddling in their affairs, and maybe the NRA gets a pass on that.

“But (it is) probably not a bad idea” for gun-control groups to stay out of the Hudak’s recall if enough signatures are gathered.

During the Virginia governor’s race, Bloomberg spent $1.1 million to help Democrat Terry McAuliffe squeak out a victory against conservative Republican candidate Ken Cuccinelli. McAuliffe has called for an assault weapons ban, long a goal of Bloomberg in the state and nationally.

While the expenditures were able to help McAuliffe achieve victory, it was far closer than expected, with his winning by only three percentage points. The Libertarian candidate received 7 percent of the vote, much of which would have probably gone to Cuccinelli, who would have won the election.

Following the recall of Mores and Giron, legislators have been skittish about pushing gun control legislation for fear of a similar thing happening to them.

“I think there are a lot of indications that lawmakers are quaking in their boots over the Colorado recall,” Erich Pratt, director of communications for Gun Owners of America said. “It was time for another wake up call. We had one in 1994 and again 2000 where Lieberman said it was the gun issue that cost them the election. It seems as if every few years ago the Democrats need to have some of their scalps nailed to the wall to remind them that this is a losing issue despite what the pollsters say.”

Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., who was a House member representing Newtown at the time of the Sandy Hook shooting said, “The results of the recall were not good news.”

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md) said while speaking at POLITICO’s Morning Money Breakfast in Washington following the shooting at the Naval Yard in Washington DC that he expected the shooting to “renew the discussions” over gun control, but he believed the recall elections in Colorado would prevent any new gun control measures from being enacted.

“It does not bode well for asking people to vote for legislation similar to that which went down in the Senate just a few months ago,” he said.

If voters were to achieve a third victory against a gun control legislator, it would further set back the issue for advocates.

Charles_L, thanks for posting that article. I had heard the Governor's request a few weeks ago, but haven't taken the time to locate a quotable source for it.

My personal take on the Governor's request is NOT so much that he minds Bloomberg or any other out-of-state source from offering their support and donations to his leftist agenda... but that from a political standpoint he is coming up on a re-election campaign and is trying to distance himself from the repercussions of the anti-gun bills he signed into law. Also, he is simply trying to distance himself from the stigma of receiving outside support.

The article was also accurate on the recent Virginia election in which Democrat Terry McAullife won by a slim margin, but what it fails to address is that the Libertarian candidate was heavily funded by Democrat supporters and was, essentially, "planted" in the election as a spoiler and he siphoned off just enough votes for the McAuliffe win.

I've never read USFinancePost so it will be interesting to see where they stand and if they can be cited as a trusted source.

Agreed, Hudak's treatment of the young woman who testified was despicable... and she deserves to lose her seat on that act alone, and with her support for the recent anti-gun laws, well she just needs to GO!
