This morning. An officer from my prison.
I’m still down with it but not in the hospital so that’s a plus.
If all goes as expected I’ll be back on duty end of next week when my ordered time off expires.
This thing has some staying power for sure.
Zero energy, cough and still no sense of smell or taste.
But that’s still 100% than I was just a couple days ago.

Drink lots of Gatorade, water and hot soups. If you have zinc pills, take those too.

From the time I was down hard until I was fever free was 7 days. I pumped myself with vitamin C too. The body aches only lasted a couple of days for me. It’ll take a while for your sense of smell to come back. I can smell things now but not as clear as I could before I had it.

I am enjoying the lack of traffic in the Phoenix area! We are doing well get to giggle at how some in society get all worked up with anxiety standing in line. Life is good, this will pass and if I die from this it was a great run!

Many years ago a USAF doctor told me than any male over 40 should be taking zinc. I've been doing it for 40+ years. Now my doctors tell me that zinc does many good things for the body. Since it's water soluble, one is not likely to overdose on zinc.

Wife just chopped off a foot plus of her hair. Frown

It actually looks really good, but she's always had very long beautiful hair down to the small of her back. Luckily I have a beautiful wife and she could probably get away with a pixie cut, but I'm going to miss it. Will take two years probably to grow back.

My yard situation is going to look amazing when this is all over. I started with getting on my hands and knees and pulling weeds from various landscaped areas. That was a couple hours per day for a few days.

Then I decided to move a shed on the side of my house. Emptied it, disassemble, move, reassemble. Oh, and I had to create a new paver base for the shed.

Then I decided to re-level the pavers where the shed had been. The total area is about 12'x6'. Pull up, leveled, reset, concrete around the edges.

Then I decided to pull up the pavers from the left side of then house and repurpose them in the backyard for a seating area. Created a nice large 12'x12' seating area.

Then I decided the privacy fence needed attention. I pulled up every single 4"x4" post and reset it straight and level. I reset each panel straight and level. I replaced posts and panels where needed.

My only outside human interaction is at Lowe's each day. All of this keeps my mind busy, keeps my body tired, and for the most part I am sleeping fairly well.

I'am fine , I am pretty sure I'am fine , the only atypical thing that I noticed was : I was cleaning out the cupboards last week. The medicine that I never finished, I found a bottle of three y.o. pain killers, ( morphine). And I had it in my hand for about four minutes, thinking about why I had them. And wondered if I needed them. Then the next day I wondered why I would " need" them.

Now almost at the 3 week into it point, the wife and I are managing fairly well, a few disagreements over the sterilization of my Amazon and Publix deliveries but all else is good. I do however feel pretty bad for my sister and BIL who own and operate a Travel Agency here in Miami, they're hugely impacted. They are scrambling to keep employees on the payroll working at home and managing expenses. Zero income in the last 2 weeks from an otherwise very profitable and well established clientele with many business accounts. Gotta feel for them, I wish I was in the position to help them financially but I'm getting by on SSI. Luckily they have savings. They are currently investigating loans and other avenues of support.

Starting to go round the bend a little bit. Work is absolutely busy as can be so I'm happy for that, but there is only so much dog walking or house projects you can do before you start getting bored. Like most, I'm rediscovering long lost hobbies like playing the banjo and upping the ante on my cooking game. We've been on lock down since March 12th, not supposed to let up until May 20th.

I figure there are two types that will come out of this thing; those that come out looking like Tom Hanks in Castaway and those who'll look like Christian Bale in American Hustle. I'll be in the Bale camp for sure.

For an introvert and one easily distracted and procrastination easily rationalized, this has been a good time.
I’m finally clearing out the garage of the house we moved 20 years and three households worth of stuff into 2 years ago. A new workbench with lots of drawers; new cabinets and containers for hardware and small parts; and finally the mostly-uninterrupted time to organize the shit out of it all. The garage has a loft; I installed an electric hoist and now the boxes and boxes of old kids’ papers and “heirloom” family stuff is moved up there, never to be touched again most likely.

We are eating far too well; breakfast this morning of oranges from our tree; fresh eggs delivered last night to our door; fresh bread my wife baked from fresh-ground hard red winter wheat berries. Coffee from my Moccamaster.

This morning another almost-daily skype with our granddaughter who is two and utterly delightful. We’d love to have her over but daughter is putting us in quarantine for our benefit (her husband still has to go to work).

I have given up my reservations about Zoom and now have regular Bible study group Zoom meetings.

Reading Jerry Pournelle’s military science fiction (Falkenberg’s Legion series).

Home Depot and Amazon delivers me the stuff I need to continue the garage organization.

And we’re in San Diego. When do we start feeling deprived?

I do feel very sorry for health care workers who are still working and having to deal with this, particularly in much harder-hit states than California. And I am very grateful for those who are still producing, delivering, and selling us food and other necessities.

I am afraid our governor will keep us locked up much longer than necessary and that we, like sheep, will go along with it and willingly and unnecessarily give up our freedom.

Just came off of a 30 day no booze cycle that started the first day they shut down the bars here. There was no need or excuse I just thought mebbe now is a good time to abstain. Then I thought well how about 30 days. Blink - that was easy.
No real changes for me other than I am having fun randomly telling coworkers GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!

Cheers~

One of my favorites during this time.

Do you have that co-worker that likes to get in your face and personal space to talk to you?

Stomach is in knots. Just finished up interview for new job. Three back to back ones. I don't think I did well on the behavioral questions, answered most of the technical ones correctly. Electrical ones no problem, mechanical ones mostly right. I'm pretty confident I passed technical ones. This is for a data center which I have very limited experience in, but I studied 20+ hours on the inner workings, UPSs, PDUs, Chillers, CRACs, CRAHs etc. Brushed up on my electrical theory, learned the basics of HVAC.

Fingers crossed.

I was fine up until today. Got told at work my job is essential, but the department was going to be cut almost in half. By next week I could be laid off. Fun, fun!

& lots of good thoughts for you!

I lost my job on the first of November. Fortunately, was able to get into another and started the beginning of January.

Will be sixty, next year.

Company has begun layoffs this week, so everyday am wondering what will happen, despite being more busy than ever.

Hold on. Keep positive. It will work out for you. Just gotta believe Smile

Well I could say a lot. The media has created a mental health crisis with all of this. The local mental hospital has a electronic billboard offering 24/7 assistance. Please call. I know that is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. Offer free advice from low level person who makes ten bucks an hour. Advice is to admit to the hospital, bill your insurance etc.

I know many private practice psychologists throughout the USA and Europe that are really hurting and can provide decent help if needed. All insurance guidelines are gone as to telehealth or audio. You do not have to leave your home and can talk on the phone. Most are still open and seeing patients. You will get sold professional advice in that arena. To the member in Arkansas who is there with his wife. He is old he has Medicare full coverage for shrinks. He needs help. The members here gave him support, but he can see an expert for FREE. ALL Of you think about it and your family. The idiots on TV talking about coping know NOTHING. If this helps a member so be it. Everything you tell a shrink is confidential except for child abuse, child porn and the like. Better than a priest because it is covered by statute.

I'm not sure if I should cry or laugh about how predictions I made two weeks ago are coming true. Turns out that many Americans are willfully letting the Constitution to be shredded so they can feel better about the not-the-flu flu.
