Wow! Very generous karma. Thank you for the chance.
I was in the Marine Corps from 1998 to 2000. I ended up breaking or cracking 8 of the ten metatarsal in my feet. Ended up getting out on a medical, which sucked because I was one of those weirdos who loved the military and the infantry.

12131 - Wow, what an incredible Karma. Please throw my hat in the ring. My Dad was a Marine in WWII. He was a college professor and didn't need to enlist but felt it was his duty to serve. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his contributions at Okinawa. He came home with what we would now call PTSD. He was the most amazing person I know. I'll try to dig up some pictures of him to add to this post.

Thank you for offering this amazing Karma.

12131,
Please enter me in this very generous karma and thank you for the opportunity.
I was active duty Army from December 1992 to December 2000.
My Dad served 38 years Federal Service (23 years active duty and 15 years Civil Service).
My grandfather served 4 years deployed during WWII.

That is a beautiful firearm and you are very generous to offer it in a Karma. Although I do qualify (20 year USAF retiree), I don't need any help in building my arsenal and don't really feel deserving since I never faced combat. Please give this nice gun to someone who really knows how to use it.

What an awesome and generous Karma, please include me. I served in the US Army 1970 - 1976.
My Dad was a Crew Chief on a B-24 Liberator in WW II North African campaign.
Thank you.

I'm in utter shock! Q, sending an email your way! Thank you so much!

ADDENDUM: It's 3:30am here and I have yet to get to sleep. Why? I'm so overwhelmed and excited about this unbelievably generous karma of what is my first "black rifle." Simply unreal!

OP, no apologies needed to those of us in the ban states.

bald1, congratulations and thank you for making me smile.

I was in when the Marines' slogan was "looking for a few good men" and posters were in hospitals and where the corpsman worked saying "The Marines have their few good men: the Navy Corpsman." I always found that funny.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Thanks. I'm still in shock. Smile

My son took great pride in being called "Doc" and in taking care of "my guys." Many Marines I know have always expressed their upmost respect and thankfulness for Navy Corpsmen. They too laugh at that retort about good men.

He ended up with a bunch of physical injuries, TBI, and PTSD, but cherishes his service time. I had a thread here some months back where he was flown from the west coast to attend a fete in NYC honoring wounded vets. Had a picture of him and his service dog meeting the new Asst Director of the VA. https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...500017324#6500017324
