Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best![]() |
Thought it would be fun to start another of these since we haven't had a dedicated one in a while, and they usually spawn some interresting gear ideas. Share a pic, and feel free to list details on specific items. Here's what I had on me today, not all necessarily at the same time. 1. Beltman Double-Stitched Bullhide belt, with stiffener. 2. Cold Steel Airlite 3. S&W 642UC in a Galco pocket holster (running this morning and this afternoon on the boat) 4. P229 SAS in a kydex holster of my own construction (the rest of the day) 5. Spare P229 mag in a pouch I got off ebay on the recommendation of YooperSigs (3d Prints by Connor) 6. Keys dependent upon what vehicle I was driving 7. Work Wallet 8. Personal wallet 9. Streamlight Macrostream ![]()

I'm a big fan of gadgets and the 'one is none' philosophy. Small little cylinder is a Ti toothpick holder. I wear Kuhl Revolvr pants daily because of the hidden pockets and lightweight fabric. In addition to the pocket dump is a P365X/EPS Carry/Streamlight TLR7 Sub in a Werkz OWB and spare 17-rd mag on a Wilderness Ti Instructor belt. ![]()

![]() AZ Summer CC involves 99% shorts & T-shirt weather (it’s heading for 115° on Sunday!!) so one has to adjust. My good old 1999 pre-lock 642-1 (w/Crimson Trace LG-405 laser grips) loaded with Federal Personal Defense Low Recoil 110gr JHP is in my Remora pocket holster, the Spyderco Embassy Auto is in the other side pocket. If I wear an untucked button up shirt I will often use the Blackhawk paddle holster. After dark my S1 Baton OLIGHT goes along. Wallet, phone, keys as needed. My 90’s Oakley sunglasses… not since the last century. ________________________________________________________ The trouble with trouble is; it always starts out as fun.

Thanks, that little 1911 is a dream to carry and shoot, super accurate. For the price you get a hell of a gun from DanWesson.

Mdblanton, that's a lot of stabby/pokey things! Does each one have a specific application, or is the idea purely redundancy? All good stuff either way. I love the beefy little Knippex pliers...seems a lot more robust and useful than what you'd get with a multi-tool. Z06 I can definitely understand the appeal.lf the J-Frame in the Arizona heat!

I guess it’s a little of both redundancy and task. The Spyderco and Swiss Army are in the left pocket while the Chris Reeve and Leatherman are in the right. I like being able access a locking blade with either my right or left hand. Also, if a coworker asks to borrow a knife I always ask what they intend to cut (and rarely hand off the Chris Reeve). I do more food prep for my lunch with the Chris Reeve which is why I like the Insingo blade shape. Boxes, packaging tape, etc. are handled with one of the other knives. The little Knipex pliers sees much more use that I initially expected and you’re correct, they are pretty robust.

My EDC is much like Z06 most of the time as a fellow Arizonan - depending how roomy my shorts are I switch between a 442 and Ruger LCPII and my knife can be any of about 6 I rotate through. Usually a surefire flashlight as well. In my car in addition to a lot of other stuff s a ruger 10/22 takedown with several mags, multiple blades and a glock 26 with spare 17 magazines.

^ What knife and light are those?

Member![]() |
That’s an Olight i3T, and a Kershaw Leek. The clip on the Leek is from Lynch Northwest and allows the knife to ride deeper in the pocket than the original clip. I like that Olight so much that I bought one for everyone on my team at the previous job. For what it’s worth, the pen is an all-metal Zebra F-701. God bless America.

That clip is similar to the one on my Macrostream. I use it frequently to clip the light to my hat brim as a headlamp when I'm working on stuff. The 701 is a nice pen. I had a DTs instructor in the academy who gave me one. He was really big on improvised weapons for self defense, and said he always carried a 701 because he could take it anywhere and it would make a fair stabby tool in a pinch.

I’ve been a big fan of Zebra pens since about 1995, when a lady I worked with gave me one (F-301). I still have that one, come to think of it. When I found the F-402, I started keeping those all the time, loving the rubber grip section. Then I found F-701. I’d collect nearly every other pen in the house and throw them out, in favor of the F-701. I’ve got those stashed in the cars, all over the house, in the office at work, in my backpack, …. God bless America.

I think I carry too much crap… ![]() This is “office day” crap. So pretty much day off crap as well. I guess when I’m working I will also have a few nitrile gloves, a pair of leather patrol gloves, my “stack ‘o cards” (Miranda Card, BAC card, Access card for the neighboring precinct office, etc, etc) and just cause I’m a sucker, a bunch of badge stickers for the kids. ^ You and I have the same key problem, lol. Are those Shield Arms mags and a Glock 48? And what knife, if you don't mind me asking? Looks nice and solid!

The knife is an ancient ZT 0200 I think is the model. It is a bit of a tank, but I can pretty much count on it for any kind of cutty task that might come along. The mags are the Shield ones, they have worked fine for me… of course, thanks to my benevolent overlords in the Washington State Soviet Socialist Democratic People’s Republic Utopia™️, I can no longer buy more, so I am stuck with just the five I managed to get in before the new law that has totally and utterly eliminated violent crime from all the inner cities. It’s amazing having 16 rounds in a pistol this thin, and I actually usually score as high or higher with it than with a 17. And yeah, the keys get a bit dumb. Those are just the ones I really “need” to keep on me. There’s another giant ring in the door of the car for all the various icy and county gates, locks, and doors I only use once a week or so. I miss my old ZT. That was great knife. Too bad I lose everything I touch. Yeah, I've got another key ring in the car, too. And it keeps growing. At one point a lot of the locks were like-keyed, but every time one breaks they swap it out with some cheap department store one and add another key.
