That is a very nice watch. I saw that in person inside the Omega Store in Belagio Casino. Your choice of leather strap enhanced its simplicity.

I actually really like the OEM "tweed" strap but I need another sports watch on a black strap like I need a hole in the head so I had to go for something brown.

I had noted one (series 2 I presume) for sale on the forums for a few hundred up from retail. Didn't realize that was happening.

Shortly after the series 2 sale - I think all were gone in less than an hour, I saw various models being offered for $1400-1500. Now they're down to $1000-1100ish on ebay. Still not worth it. Those guys who were only in it to make a quick buck can choke on them.

Six days in the surf with the Dan Henry model 1970. I cannot recommend this watch strongly enough. It's great.

EDIT -- Had an issue with the crystal. I may have to temper the strong recommendation.

Picked up an Erica's Original MN for the MM300. It's expensive for a fabric strap but, for this watch, just about perfect. Because the watch is so big and heavy, it can flop around on my wrist but, since the MN is a bit elastic, I can wear it a bit tighter than I would normally wear a strap and it's still super comfortable. Very nicely made with great hardware so, if you can stomach the price, it's worth a try.

I'd had an Erica's Original planned for my Halios when I get it. (spoiler). Halios inbound!

I quite like mine, still wearing it now. Maybe, just maybe not worth the price. If you're not scared by the price, go for it.

What do y'all think of Ball watches?

How about Longines?

I have a yearning for a Longines Hydroconquest and Ball Trainmaster.

Take what I say with a grain of salt. I don't keep watches forever. I've found that those sort of brands can lose as much or more than higher end brands. So I play in the higher end. But I have plenty of respect for those brands. Just be certain you're buying it right from a price perspective. They can take a hit.

Agree with Rogue on this. Both Ball and Longine take big hits as a used watch. This is also good if you don't mind buying pre-owned since you'll most likely get a good deal.

The new Ball GMT. I like it. I'd want to see it in person, but I think it's a winner. Don't know that I really need another time piece right now though.

I just replaced my faulty "bargain" dive computer ($199) that always says I'm still down at 10 feet after a dive, with a new, higher-end, air-integrated computer ($500+). So I need another dive watch like I need a hole in the head, but I DO like that one. Not so much for diving, as for a casual-wear watch. And the price fits nicely between my current sub-$50 Casio Duro and the Rolex Submariner I'd really like to have. ;-)

I wanted something for daily wear that has the looks of my AT at 1/8th the cost.

Ball makes some attractive watches, but I just CANNOT get past that stupid crown locking system they insist on placing on some of their watches.
