Some waterfowl and a 600+lb bear

Spent a few hours at Alligator River this afternoon. Lots of waterfowl.

This is what a 600+ lb Black Bear looks like. From about 300 yards. His gut was nearly touching the ground. Wish I could have gotten closer.

North Carolina's state bird - the Deer Fly. Far more dangerous than any bear. NC Deer Flies eat Deep Woods Off with DEET like candy. I've walked out of the wood feeling anemic from blood loss.
