A friend a work is trying to identify this antique pistol. No maker's mark/stamps are legible. The bore is 0.75". Any suggestions?

I am always amazed at what AI or Google can do from images. You might try uploading to ChatGPT with a preamble message "May I upload two images of an antique muzzle loading firearm for you to identify?"

It’s converted from a flintlock, I think this would be what is called a drum style conversion, the nipple is fitted on the round shaped piece that is mounted where the pan used to be. Usually a new percussion style hammer would be fitted, the hammer on this looks odd, the mounting point is very high, I would be curious what the lockwork looks like on the inside.

Hard to tell from the photos, but looks like a fairly plain stock, no checkering, and the pattern looks a lot like English or Continental style from the grip shape.

What does the handle/doohickee thing on the left side do?

ETA, I haven't found the exact pistol but the hook/clip on the left side is a belt clip

Mu brain said "sash pistol". I don't even know what that means. Not seeing that anywhere, but there must be something buried in the dust of my memory.

That thing is a belt hook. OWB, not IWB. Big Grin

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll pass it along.

Yeah, I thought the ClipDraw I mounted on a Glock 43 a few years ago was a novel idea - guess I was off by a couple of hundred years in my assessment.
