sigcrazy7What do you like for a stand micrometer?
I'm tired of always using a handheld micrometer. I'm thinking of this:
https://www.mscdirect.com/prod...ls/06257091?fromRR=YWith the magnetic base, I could affix it to a piece of machined steel that would also be a base. It would make it easy to use as a comparator with my L.E. Wilson chamber gauges. This option seems very reasonably priced at a little over $200.
Thoughts?

OrthogonalI have the magnetic tool you've posted and several dial indicators. However for precision reloading purposes I found that a smallish granite surface plate with an indicator stand has proven much more useful. There are grades of course, the larger and/or smoother flatter ones cost more but they start very reasonably at 6"x6". Here is a link with some pics:
