I'm tired of always using a handheld micrometer. I'm thinking of this: https://www.mscdirect.com/prod...ls/06257091?fromRR=Y With the magnetic base, I could affix it to a piece of machined steel that would also be a base. It would make it easy to use as a comparator with my L.E. Wilson chamber gauges. This option seems very reasonably priced at a little over $200. Thoughts? Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well. -Epictetus

I have the magnetic tool you've posted and several dial indicators. However for precision reloading purposes I found that a smallish granite surface plate with an indicator stand has proven much more useful. There are grades of course, the larger and/or smoother flatter ones cost more but they start very reasonably at 6"x6". Here is a link with some pics: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.htm...cator+stand&_sacat=0 Dial indicators choices are prolific at that site as well. Looking is free!
