I'm wondering what everybody uses to carry a reload? When off-duty, I typically carry a P229 IWB at 4:00. I use a kdex clip-on holster of my own creation, and it carries very comfortably and is easy to slide on and off without having to remove my belt. My current mag pouch is a versacarry leather OWB ( https://versacarry.com/plain-magazine-pouch/). It's decently minimalist and very comfortable, but there are a few shortcomings:

1. You have to remove your belt to put it on/take it off
2. Mag retention is pretty much gravity and that's that's it. If you have to crawl around on the ground for anything, lie on the couch, sit in a recliner, or take your pants off with it still on your belt, chances are the mag is going to fall out.
3. It doesn't ride very tight to the body, so concealment is only so-so.

I recently tried this ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08K..._dt_b_fed_asin_title) and absolutely hate it. It's so tight it's next to impossible to get on and off the belt, and its incredibly uncomfortable to wear. I tried everywhere from 7:00-11:30, and it was terrible everywhere. I don't understand how I can shove a whole gun and holster inside my pants IWB and have it be more comfortable than a single magazine in a neoprene sleeve.

I do have a few hard-sided mag pouches for range use, but none of them is something I'd want to wear around all day in street clothes or try to conceal.

Priorities are all-day comfort, concealability, mag retention, and easy on/off the belt. What have you guys got?

I prefer horizontal mag pouches and for me these have always worked great.

They make differing sizes but all allow for plenty of wiggle room so to speak and can be tightened or loosened on the belt for looser or tighter retention.

I’ve used these for many many years and never found anything I like better. They are comfortable conceal fine, are very easy on/off and are easy to access. I typically run mine weak side near front/appendix to allow me access with either arm should my “reload’n arm” get injured.

Now keep in mind I am a low speed high drag regular guy. I am not running into gunfights and I am not competing. My goal is the ability to carry an extra mag comfortably and easily while still allowing me easy quick access, I won’t be doing any John Wick reloads from this….. or any pouch now that I think about it. .

YMMV of course.

My spare mag is carried in a Kramer horsehide single mag pouch or a Comp Tac kydex single mag pouch. Been using the Kramer mag pouches since the early 90s, the Comp Tac ones for the last 15 or so years.

My wife only uses the Comp Tac single mag pouch anymore.

Interesting ideas, keep 'em coming. I like Safariland stuff, but I'd like to keep it vertical and open top if possible to match my duty gear. Those Kramer pouches look really nice, but kinda ouchy on the price.

That looks promising, and for the price I can't not try it! Just ordered one, we'll see how it works.

Normally I carry in a Wright Leather Works holster and matching double mag carrier, however, when I want quick-on/off, I use a couple Pitbull Tactical universal mag carriers. They work OWB and IWB, and fit most double and single stack mags except the tiny ones. They work with my Glock mags as well as my Springfield XD-S 9 mags. Hope that’s helpful.

Yeah, I wish I could get away with something like that but my pockets are already too full as it is.

I have used Magholder horizontal pouches for several years, they hold tight to the belt, have easy access to the mag and hold securely. I have them for several calibers.

I have a couple WTP carriers for the sigpro. Good adjustability withe the rubber spacers. Fits my 229 mags the same.

The 3D Prints by Connor mag pouch arrived yesterday. It's nice and robust, but not too big, which I like. It fits my P229 and P320 mags, which is nice considering those are basically the only two semi-autos platforms I'm carrying these days. Retention is good, and the mags won't fall out on their own. P229 mags are a tad tighter than the P320 mags, but I ordered the P320 model so that's to be expected.

The only disappointment was that the thing has a solid belt loop instead of a clip. That's no good for an easy one-off without removing my belt. It was cheap enough, though, that I wasn't afraid to remedy this with a hacksaw, so mine now has a belt clip. We'll have to see how it holds up to some use.

My last order from Connor was for two pouches. One came with belt clip, the other did not. Roll of the dice, I guess!

I use Kytex Gear mag pouches as well.

Great quality, super low profile, and easy on/off the belt but without every having to worry about it coming off on its own.
