This news item seems to have been largely flying under the radar as far as the MSM in St. Louis. The mayor and other city politicians are all scrambling to try to address the spate of children killed in shootings and appear to be attempting yet another time to infringe upon the rights of law-abiding Missourians while making no mention of those released from custody for violent, gun-related crimes with low or no bail so that they can re-offend before their first scheduled court appearance.

With the governor being both a Republican and a former elected sheriff, I hope he tells her what to do with her proposals.

Krewson made the comments at the monthly board meeting of a regional planning group.Link

St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson is asking Missouri lawmakers to change state law to let her city and others require concealed weapon permits.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Krewson’s comments come a day after Missouri Gov. Mike Parson rejected a request from the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus that lawmakers take up gun violence in St. Louis and Kansas City during a special legislative session planned for September.

At least 13 children have been killed by gunfire in the city of St. Louis this year.

The Missouri Legislature in 2017 allowed non-felons to carry concealed weapons without a permit. Krewson said she has asked Parson to back legislation letting cities of a certain size require permits.

St. Louis it ranked in the top five for the highest homicides. Requiring a permit?? Because those doing the shooting would simply stop committing crimes without one?

I think Montana has a similar law.
Hopefully someone from Montana will provide information.

Sadly, that's becoming less likely than ever since the city elected a Soros-backed circuit attorney who has been embroiled in squabbles with the police department over various issues as well as facing legal/ethical issues within her office ever since she was elected. As a result, successful prosecutions of crimes against persons are at very low levels.

St. Louis politicians have long been very anti-2A with regard to law-abiding citizens. Constitutional carry has only been in effect for several years now but going back to the days when CCW was just coming into existence statewide, St. Louis City (which is its own county) refused to issue permits when the law went into effect and instead, fought vigorously against implementing the law. Florida and other states which issued non-resident permits which Missouri accepted under reciprocity benefitted financially from this as many St. Louisans applied for Florida licenses as a work-around to St. Louis City flouting state law.

Also, the St. Louis City Prosecuting Attorney's Office has had a 100% turn over since Gardner took over, losing over 470 years of Prosecution Trial experience.

I can't imagine anyone with the intelligence to get into law school, graduate and pass the bar wanting to be associated with an office which is being run in the way it's currently being run.

I don't know that a 100% turnover is unprecedented, but for an office that size, I doubt it happens very often.
