Looking online to see what he might have put out lately, I learned that Mr. Mays died this February from a "recurring illness". This guy was a brilliant pianist and composer, the bulk of his work done with Pat Metheny. Oh man, had no idea. Extremely talented guy. He was great playing in one of Joni Mitchell's band, along with Pat Metheny, Jaco Pastorius, and Michael Brecker. Rest In Peace. I became a big fan after hearing a little piece of September 15th and Farmer's Trust at the end of a 1984 movie called Fandango. Good overall early 70's soundtrack to that movie btw. This one just seems like a nice epitaph for the man. Thanks for the music.
