Good movie on the life of Ayrton Senna. Lots of subtitles though.

Also lets you in on how political F1 racing is. (well, all racing for that matter)

Yeah, it's worth watching. He was treated like a God back home and he lived the dream till the end.

Yesterday would've been Senna's (59th, I believe) birthday.

RIP

The Senna film was a very good watch. May have to re-watch this weekend.

There have been great strides in safety since then.
Even without them, it was just bad luck. If the wheel had gone on a slightly different trajectory he would been only slightly injured.

Yep.
Looking at how much of the driver is exposed in the above pic, as compared to the current crop of cars (Even just pre-halo).

Just a perfect set of circumstances, for the Williams to hit the barrier at that angle/spot/etc for the wheel to come back in that way.

Same with Marco Simoncelli. Some things are just freak accidents.

This doc was great. Watched it last year.

I think this thread has morphed into a discussion on two completely different shows.

Yes, the Netflix one is a drama-metary[?] series vs the true footage doc of the OP.
Both relevant to the subject though.

The Netflix show looks to be really well done, hoping it lives up to the trailer.

Even the old one had some drama thrown in, but captured the underlying story well.
I don't have great expectations for this new version but hope I'm wrong, as Drive to Survive has done wonders for the visibility and popularity of F1.

I take it this is a new movie, but I humbly submit the 2010 documentary as a must-watch:
