If you've patience you don't need to. Just wait until you have $35 worth of stuff and select free shipping. We've been doing that for the 2-1/2 years since we cancelled Prime last time. Only reason we re-signed with Prime was for Prime Video. They just blew that up for us. Yeah, having Prime does tend to make one a mite careless--I've noticed that. I don't know, but, in addition to cancelling Prime, I decided to forgo a Kindle e-Reader for myself for my birthday, too, as a result of this. "America is at that awkward stage. I've had Prime for work for at least 15 years, and over the last 5 years or so, the number of reputable brands for sale on Amazon has decreased dramatically. In fact, I barely even buy HDMI cables and usb headsets on Amazon anymore. I don't even see the need to keep our corporate Prime membership, which allows me to watch Prime video content, and if I'm honest, I won't miss it when it's gone. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. This is really just step two. They'd already put commercials in 1/2, if not MOST of what you could watch "for free", which it's not. A word that apparently none of the streaming services know the meaning of. "Free with subscription", a subscription you pay for, which means it's not free. They must have figured that was fairly painless, lets just make what's left of it have commercials as well.

I got Prime since I'm back in NH for the holidays. In Puerto Rico having Prime doesn't do squat for faster shipments so I was going to cancel it when I got back. Now I'll probably do it sooner in protest. Prime video is full of garbage movies and TV shows. I was on Youtube today and here are some of the movies they are offering for free (no ads with an adblock extension on the browser): Heat, Tropic Thunder, The Patriot, Black Hawk Down, The Da Vinci Code, LA Confidential, We Were Soldiers, Armageddon, The Fifth Element, Snatch, The Mechanic, Rounders, Point Break, Gattaca, RoboCop, Flags of Our Fathers, Hook, Life, Argo, Real Steel, The Truman Show, K19 the Widowmaker, Beaverly Hills Cop, Quigley Down Under, Commando, Time Cop, Philadelphia, The Game.... the list goes on. All solid movies, most I've seen a few times if not more. vs Prime: Nobody, Red Sparrow, Kickass, Ted, Xmen Origins, The Breakfast Club. I've watched probably a dozen or so movies/tv shows on prime and none of them were worth the time it took to watch them. If I had to sit through ads I wouldn't even bother.

This is definitely our case. With three adults on the account, we have several deliveries most weeks to and more than one delivery on some days. Commercials will just lead us to take less advantage of the video content. *** "Aut viam inveniam aut faciam (I will either find a way or make one)." -- Hannibal Barca
