Redo Perry Mason instead. The stories were more interesting than anything I can remember on Matlock.
Reruns seem to agree with me - I can find Perry Mason almost any night of the week if I look for it, but I don't remember seeing Matlock in the mix very often, if at all.
Point of interest: very few trials were portrayed in Perry Mason. They were almost all preliminary hearings. They did it at least in part to avoid paying for another 12 extras.
If reruns agree with you get yourself PlutoTV (free app with ads).
You can watch Matlock, Perry Mason, The Rifleman, Andy Griffith, Murder She Wrote, and many a more great shows.
I have and use Pluto,
the commercials can get annoying in their frequency, but overall it's a good source for some good old TV shows
Samsung TV has some similar channels too,
saw a preview for the new Matlock whilst watching beetlejuice at the theater,
looked interesting if you like that stuff,

BlackmoreSurprised to read it was Kathy Bates. Was expecting a half South Asian, half Jamaican woman.

smschulzWatched ep 1, it was well... OK to meh.
I don't have any self-righteous inclinations because of the name.
I tend to let the content do the talking.
So we'll see how the storyline goes.

PASigI will not watch any remakes of classic TV shows; Hawaii 5-0, The Equalizer and esp any of these awful new Star Trek shows
Would it kill them to actually have some creativity and originality? Apparently that's too hard these days.

You have to realize that nothing is original and not just today, I mean ever.
Everybody builds on or emulates something that has been done before.
However, just taking a name and half-assing it is or can be a problem and agree.
But just know nothing is original.

nhtagmemberNot a fan of Kathy Bates
Saw a few episodes of the original series but never got into it
As far as any hope of originality in Hollywood, you can forget it. It’s requires creativity and work. Those two skills are abhorrent to that culture
