All these MF'ers must be completely out of ideas.

The woke, non creative crowd have sunk their hooks into a 'rebooting' of the old Matlock series. They have changed Matlock into a woman, Kathy Bates is to play the lead role.

link

The pilot, a reworking of the 1986-95 legal drama that starred Andy Griffith, features Kathy Bates in the title role of a septuagenarian lawyer who joins a prestigious firm and racks up courtroom wins. John Jason Ritter joins a cast that also includes Skye P. Marshall, David Del Rio and Leah Lewis.

Ritter will play Julian, the son of the head of the firm. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, Julian nonetheless feels he has a lot to prove and is diligent and persistent. He’s at odds with prioritizing his family and balancing his career and always considers the good of the firm, even if it pushes the boundaries between his work and personal life.

I thought Queen Latifah as the Equalizer was the worst CBS could do. But, nope. Its Matlock now.

Is she going to get someone else to accidentally confess to the murder on the stand, like in EVERY single episode of the original? Big Grin

Will she also only be facing prosecutors who never object to anything? Big Grin

Redo Perry Mason instead. The stories were more interesting than anything I can remember on Matlock.

Reruns seem to agree with me - I can find Perry Mason almost any night of the week if I look for it, but I don't remember seeing Matlock in the mix very often, if at all.

Point of interest: very few trials were portrayed in Perry Mason. They were almost all preliminary hearings. They did it at least in part to avoid paying for another 12 extras. Smile

WTF. Matlock worked because of Andy Griffith's folksy character. He was the courtroom's version of Columbo.

We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. I like Kathy Bates as an actress and so maybe she can pull it off.. playing a female Matlock, pretending to be an older Andy Taylor from Mayberry N.C.

LOL... as soon as I saw the headline, I read it to my wife and we both said at the same time, it will be a woman.

Kathy bates is at least tolerable, but you can bet your ass there will be a gay / or trans assistant.

The wife and I watched it last night. It was actually pretty good. No blatant wokeness. We enjoyed it. I hope it continues.

This is the first time we turned on broadcast TV in quite some time. I considered it worth it.

My wife and I watched it as well. It was pretty good and has literally nothing to do with the original Matlock series (other than the name the character is using).

The ads seemed to indicate it is MINO. Matlock In Name Only. I haven't watched much network programming in a long while. I doubt I'll see this one.

Well stated. My wife and I will occasionally watch Matlock on some of the rerun channels, and enjoy it, we like the murder-mystery genre nowadays. We have both burned out on the original Andy Griffith series, we have watched each B&W episode maybe a dozen times through the years. But we have never watched Matlock in its original run, it was mainly viewed by old people at the time. But now we are both in our 60s, we finally fit the series demographics Smile

If reruns agree with you get yourself PlutoTV (free app with ads).
You can watch Matlock, Perry Mason, The Rifleman, Andy Griffith, Murder She Wrote, and many a more great shows.
