THIS! I HATE lawyer movies or movies about trials (or shows for that matter). But this movie I can watch every time and I do use parts of it from time to time in trial during voir dire or closing argument.

Definitely a great flick.
And Fred's last film. He passed away less than a year later. But he went out on top of his game, capping a forty year career that was certainly more diverse than just "Herman Munster".

So many great scenes in that flick. But, the stuttering public defender was where I spit out my Cocoa Puffs.

It is true. Most movies and show about courtroom stuff are so unrealistic that they are unwatchable for lawyers. Scripts have the lawyers make bullshit objections, and allow absolutely inadmissible evidence in without a peep, just as an example. This movie mostly gets that stuff right, and is still an entertaining movie.

Even though most days in the courtroom are dry as burnt toast and boring. It is hard to make a lot of testimony in civil trials very interesting.

How could it take you five minutes to cook your grits, when it takes the entire grit-eating world 20 minutes?

The jail scene is real good. This is where Gambini first meets Stan while Billy sleeps.

Me too. And she won an Oscuh.

I always had a crush on her too. Smile
Once in 1993 or 1994, I hung out with some friends at the Pittsburgh Airport because one of them was an extra in a movie with Marissa Tomei. When they were shooting her scene, she had to run through the airport and we said "Hey, we get to see Marissa Tomei in person."

Nope, she had a double do the running. Frown

God, he was my favorite, he was so funny.

Early in the movie in the police line up, there is a really tall big guy, that’s a good friend of mine, Big Jim Stancil.

Just like I hate 99 percent of cop shows. “The Wire” being the notable exception that is about right.
