Tony Dow who played Wally Cleaver on Leave it to Beaver passes at age 77. He was like everyone wanted their big brother to be as Wally...
I also remember Tony as a very good director - he did some great episodes for various shows but Babylon 5 is the one I remember most.

Tony Dow, the all-American Wally on ‘Leave it to Beaver,’ dies at 77

Update below in the thread from Flash-LB, Para, and bald1
Leave It To Beaver star Tony Dow is actually still alive

Wally Cleaver was the big brother I wish I'd had. My older brother was the polar opposite so not a high bar. Family sitcoms were a staple of that time and took a lot heat for presenting worlds no one lived in. Something to that but "Beaver" was the best of the lot, great and memorable characters and more in touch with real life situations.

I don't think it was a stretch for Tony Dow to play Wally, his later life pretty much followed a path Wally could have traveled. I'm grateful to have lived at a time where Tony Dow's work meant so much.

IIRC, he was kind of hard on the Beaver, wasn't he?

Well the Beaver is gonna be in trouble with Ward for prematurely announcing Wally's Death. June will smooth it over.

I think the confusion continues... he apparently is still alive in hospice care as of an hour ago. This has become a morbid death watch in the media now. Frown

As long as they don't open the door to his room, Schrödinger's Cleaver is both alive and dead.
