The Orville is so good, some of the season 2 episodes were upsetting to watch.

ST:Enterprise was a prequel series, and had some good episodes, but overall it was lousy. I refuse to watch STiscovery (or, as the haters call it, STD) or Picard. They are both apparently infested with SJW crap (and I HATE the 'JJTrek'-style special effects and the re-vamped design of the Klingons). STD lost me as a potential viewer when the entire cast went out of their way to show them all kneeling 'in support of' the nfl/blm retards. . .



And, I'm not alone. You should see the internet fights people get into over on the "Star Trek Memes" facebook group. I mean, just DARE to HINT that Discovery is not the greatest thing in the world, and all the gatekeepers rush in and start spewing venom. It's really fun to watch.


As for Orville, I watched several episodes when it first came out, but then I got tired of it. I consider it a spoof show, and didn't have much patience in watching long-term. Of course, I haven't seen more than 4-5 episodes, so I may be missing something. I might have to pop back and check it out again.

Season 1 gets better as it goes. Season 2 is noticeably better.

I think it just took them a bit to find their stride, as with any show, and specifically find a balance between McFarlane's innate goofy humor and serious subject matter.

The bits of goofy humor never go totally away, but it gets less jarring as you go.

And they tackle some pretty serious subjects in a number of episodes, several of which surprised me.

Enterprise Season 4 disagrees with you. It was a little too late, but when Manny Coto was allowed to run the show, Enterprise became the show it was supposed to be. Except the Series Finale. The show stopped at "Terra Prime."

Thanks. I couldn't hold my nose long enough to slog through the first several seasons of Enterprise, so had given up on it long before Season 4 came around.

Still, one good (partial) season doesn't make Enterprise good, any more than some weak seasons of TNG or DS9 make them bad.

It saves it from being the worst as that Season is objectively better than any season of Voyager, and unlike the former, it takes full advantage of its premise instead of trying to be TNG-Lite.

And it makes it better than any of the Kurtzman trash afterwards.

The actor who played Garak wrote a book, which is like a journal of letters Garak is sending to Bashir after the end of DS9. So far is pretty good, it's his life story and about rebuilding Cardassia

I tried the Orville and gave up a couple episodes in. It couldnt decide if it was Family Guy in space or a serious drama.

Yeah, as mentioned, the first few episodes are uneven.

But the same can be said for just about every Trek series too.

About halfway into Season 1 it sorted out to be more serious drama with "regular people" reactions. There were still funny bits, but the show got more serious.

Seriously serious, in some cases, with episodes tackling subjects like mob rule/absolute democracy, porn addiction, marriage/divorce difficulties, family expectations/disapproval, oppressive theocracies, concentration camps, homosexuality as a capital offense, genocide, slavery, etc.
