I know Tombstone is a favorite around here, and plenty of people have mentioned what a good job Kilmer did. I am in total agreement with that; it's my favorite role of his. He has most of the best scenes and the best lines, and several always come to mind when I think of the movie. But was watching it tonight and was taken again by the deathbed scene. He's really very good, and manages to choke me up every time.

Yes, a good performance IMO. Place your clothes and weapons where you can find them in the dark. “If in winning a race, you lose the respect of your fellow competitors, then you have won nothing” - Paul Elvstrom "The Great Dane" 1928 - 2016

Certainly one of his best roles. I also like him in The Ghost and the Darkness. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

To think that Mickey Rourke was initially approached to play that role in Tombstone? Yes, an injustice was done. Val Kilmer was overlooked by the Academy for his role as Doc Holliday, in Tombstone. Val didn't even receive a nomination. The nominees for Best Supporting Actors in 1993 were Gene Hackman, Jaye Davidson, Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, and David Paynor. Gene Hackman won for his role in "Unforgiven". This list contains some pretty good actors and some good roles, most notably Jack Nicholson for "A Few Good Men". However the rest are forgettable. ______________________________________________ Life is short. It’s shorter with the wrong gun…

Totally agree with his performance as Doc being amazing. I have enjoyed quite a few movies he has been in including Real Genius, Willow, Top Gun, and The Saint to name a few. -Dtech __________________________ "I've got a life to live, people to love, and a God to serve!" - sigmonkey "Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value." - Albert Einstein "A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition" ― Rudyard Kipling

Like many on this forum, Tombstone is one of my top movies. I was staying in a hotel Thursday night up near Quantico and as I was flipping through channels I came across the movie, and caught the death bed scene. I am not a very emotional person, but that scene always gets to me. A great movie, and one of Val Kilmer's best roles.

As you should. This is something that needs to be remedied immediately. I have had the Special Edition DVD for years as the DTS Audio tracks adds immensely. I probably should go ahead and pick up the Blu Ray for better video quality. Though I have some DVDs that were reformatted in Blu Ray and the video difference was nominal. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. It is available on Amazon Prime. I have yet to watch it on the 85" with the full Sonos surround setup. Not having any luck sourcing the Blu Ray locally. May have to settle for streaming it. Not sure what audio the stream has on Amazon. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have.
