Little ray of sunshine |
Sam Houston caught Santa Anna's army near where the San Jacinto River enters Trinity Bay at Lynch's Ferry (still in operation) and destroyed it in a brief battle. It was a slaughter as the Texans literally caught the Mexicans napping. They caught Santa Anna and he surrendered Mexico's claim to Texas. Remember the Alamo! Remember Goliad! The fish is mute, expressionless. The fish doesn't think because the fish knows everything.

Legend has it that Emily West kept Santa Anna "busy" while the attack began. Could be just a legend, but hats off to the little, uh, lady. ********* "Some people are alive today because it's against the law to kill them".

Our pool guy talking to me about travels led me to comment on this thread. He asked if any of the battlegrounds I’d been to had ever given me any sensations from those that died there. Only when visiting the Alamo. My son even mentioned that it felt haunted, and my wife agrees.

Q: What did Davy Crockett say to Jim Bowie when they first saw Santa Anna's army? A: Damn. I didn't know we were pouring concrete today. When a thing is funny, search it carefully for a hidden truth. - George Bernard Shaw

I never felt anything at the Alamo. Gettysburg however. Yeah, that place is creepy. ________________________________________________________ "Great danger lies in the notion that we can reason with evil." Doug Patton.
