I’m curious who all might be into this around here. I use to really get into *home* audio. With the introduction of Sonos a few years back, I converted to it and my audiophile tendencies started concentrating on DAP’s and higher end IEM’s. The “ChiFi” scene really intrigues me for some reason. The almost endless supply of high end performing IEM’s for half the price of Shure and Westone types makes them a must try for me. I’m in the market for some nicer IEM’s and am thinking of trying the Fiio FH7’s. Shanling has a new upper end DAP coming out in a week or two called the M6. My favorite DAP so far has been the Cayin N6ii. Anyway... am I the only weirdo into this?

I use the 31 mhz non-binary reverse framulator for all my psycho-acoustic metronomic reverberation.

I'm lucky to get apple lossless encoding working. And with hearing loss, I'm pretty sure I can't tell the difference.

Good on you to play audio games. I finished up mine with a cd player, separate pre- and amp, and some Klipsch Fortes.

But your description reads to me like this:

You are not alone. I started with the FIIO E17 portable DAC, which made a BIG improvement to my iPod and even cell phone. Then I went to a Astell & Kern player, as I got frustrated with Apples "Does not play well with others" philosophy and wanted an all in one unit. The A&K has a balanced output capability, which took the sound quality up a bit more as well as ability to play several types of high rez files. I've been very happy with it.

I have many head and ear phones, to include Sennheiser, Etymotic and JVC HA-FX850's which are both standard and balanced cable capable. I was somewhat skeptical of an audible difference in sound, but there was.
