People race lawn mowers. Just putting that out there as food for thought.

I won’t even get into the fact people compete to see who can shovel the most hot dogs down their throat. Frown

Concussions are us.
Some Icelandic/Viking giant is gonna walk in with a war hammer, cave-in an opponents breast plate and the sideline guys are going to rush in with several tool boxes struggling to get his armor off before he dies of suffocation.

I was watching some show about jousting. It was a class on how to joust and then they'd also show these guys performing at Renaissance Fairs and Medieval Times-type of shows. One of the lead characters was adamant that he LoVEd to joust, and wanted to see it become a competitive event with a professional league. Roll Eyes

Doesn't help when armor gets pushed-in an inch or two thus compressing the chest. The wearer is already huffing n'puffing towards exhaustion, taking such a hit will make a fighter useless. You could wear the armor loose or, poorly fitting but, then you're fighting the armor just as much as the opponent.

I never heard of this program until yesterday when this article ran in our local paper. Summary: A local guy will be on the show.

The fellow who died was a friend of many of my former fighting friends. It was a freakishly freak accident.

I did medieval-based fighting from aged 16 to 44. Mostly with padded weapons, but I also fought in the SCA with wooden weapons and trained in German longsword. Hitting someone else before they hit you and hitting them better while defending yourself is a hugely fun experience.
