I didn't mind the premise of the first Suicide Squad, but this looks just plain stupid. Like, why the hell am I watching this? kind of stupid.

He reviewed the trailer four (4) months ago, not the movie.

Since you follow him we probably share YouTube personalities like healvsbabyface, yellowflash2, and red letter media. They all have posted positive reviews.

I want to see it; however I don’t have the time.

Yellowfish2 posted that it’s bombing in theaters. Maybe a mix of COVID and everyone’s justified suspicions about DC comic movies.

This article conveniently blames “Covid” of course, why not

I mean it couldn’t just be that it’s a dumb movie and people are burnt out on the never-ending superhero dreck that Hollywood keeps churning out now, could it? Nahhhh…. Roll Eyes

polka dot man is pretty funny, actually. weasel is basically not even in the movie.

I think the movie does a pretty good job of being ridiculous and humorous. It only really stumbled in the few moments it tried to take itself seriously.

The movie is kinda like Guardians mixed with The Expendables. The whole POINT is the outlandish, mutant, crazy characters.

I enjoyed if for the momentary disconnect from reality, laughed a bit, didn't feel it was a waste of time.

I was hoping for a bit more, but glad it wasn't worse. The characters were ok, the dynamic was good, but the end fight was meh.

DC's issue vs. Marvel to me has been direction (and not just directors). There just isn't a cohesive feel to any of the different movies like you had with the Marvel franchise. This definitely falls in line with that.

I shall respect you until you open your mouth, from that point on, you must earn it yourself.

One thing COVID has done is expose Hollywood as the useless, unimportant tit it is.

Life got real super fast for most people. I hope Hollywood’s relevance continues to decline.

The entire point of The Suicide Squad was to be stupid and ridiculous. It took DC’s most ridiculous D grade supervillains (with one or two B listers to make it interesting) and put them in over the top ridiculous no win scenarios where they were being forced (with bombs in their heads) to do the governments dirty work. Sure, Harley is in there, but the comics also served as an outlet for DC to poke fun at itself for Polka Dot Man and King Shark (who is incidentally the best supporting character in the excellent Harley Quinn animated show on HBO, albeit as a completely different take in the character).

And that’s about a close as you can get to a serious take on Starro the Conqueror.

Like I said, not a great movie, not even a good movie, but it was amusing mindless entertainment. If you aren’t into the ridiculous, it’s not a film for you.

I am not sure mindless entertainment is not the premise for all tv/movies anymore. China does not completely understand the American psyche yet. But, they are getting there

It's an ok movie.
A bit of stunt casting, didn't care for the time jumps in it and still think that Harley Quinn is overdone.

I laughed a lot during the parts leading up to them entering the stronghold. After that, it was neither funny or interesting.

I watched on HBO.

Gibb pretty much posted what I thought, although I didn’t feel like I escaped the world for one sec.

Is Hollywood SO seriously bankrupt of new ideas that they are remaking movies that only came out like 4 years ago??? Confused

As Rogue said, it's a sequel. It's difficult to tell without seeing a trailer because the two titles are so similar, though.

However, to your point, there was at least one case of a remake coming out almost immediately after the original: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Six years between the original and remake. Let the Right One In and Let Me In are even closer, at 2 years apart.

The English language version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a remake of the a Swedish version of the same film. Similarly, Let The Right One In was a Swedish film and Let Me in was an American remake. Also, the US remake of the Japanese film Ring as The Ring.

I think there is a big difference in remaking a foreign language film that not a lot of people in the US have a chance to see, and remaking the same film in the same language.

And the original Swedish version (and sequals) starring Noomi Rapace were far better.

I laughed a lot. It was a fun stupid movie. Probably not good enough for those hooked on the DC family of content, but as an outsider, it cracked me up.

Wasn't expecting much. And was expecting stupid but entertaining based on above comments. I'm weirdly attracted to Harley Quinn. The stupid far outweighed the entertaining though. I finished it. Not sure why, perhaps because I'm stupid.

Awful film, even for a superho film. Took me 4 days to get through it. I'd make it 30 minutes and just turn it off.

Polkadot man, shark man, rat lady, and the cake winner, the scientist with plugs superglued to his head. You think that is the end of it until you see the giant walking starfish. Yeah there were some funny points, some knarly head exploding type kills, but the movie was a mess. Idiocracy was a fortune telling exercise. I feel that soon we'll have a film that is just farting for 1.5 hours and it'll win 7 Oscars.

Captain Marvel was better than this and that is really saying something. I put this up with the worst superho film I have ever seen, tied with that SJW/Propaganda Harley Quinn one off film. Thank goodness it was free, which is all it is worth.

I'll assume you've blocked Aquaman from your mind, as a psychological defence mechanism. (which is quite understandable).

To be honest, I just watched it for Margot Robbie...and then I dozed on the coach about 90-mins in. I thought it was ok, I know its a spoof of sorts for the superhero genre.

I'll stick with The Boys on Prime for graphic and absured supers.

You assume incorrectly. Aquaman was an Oscar film compared to this. PASig said it above, many of us are just burnt out on this never ending SuperHo bullshit. The movies are terrible. It was fun for a minute but I can count on one hand the solid films in this genre and 3 of those are from the same director. The never ending men in tights saga, ground breaking. Roll Eyes

wife and I was setting on the couch a few nights ago, and flipping channels,

we (actually she) could not decide what we wanted to watch, but 'we' wanted to watch something,

so I parked it on The Avengers while she was suddenly preoccupied with something else,

she actually started watching it and was laughing at the quips,

we watched it for a bit and then recorded the ending so she could finish it later,

she enjoyed the movie dialog, fast fowarded thru the crash bang stuff,

I asked her later if she wanted to watch any more super duper movies and she said no,

she agreed that the dialog was good in spots, very funny in fact the way they bounced the banter off each other, but overall, the world being destroyed stuff was boring,
