Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta is now a series on Prime. I enjoyed reading and listing to many of these books over the years. Hopeful the show does them justice.

Watched the first couple episodes. Could be OK. Started out slow with all of the family introductions and family drama, not to mention the usual woke infusion of the lesbo daughter. More interested in the crime and crime solving than the drama. So it has been a meh ...so far for me. Also Jamie Lee Curtis is particularly annoying in her role too.

I have zero familiarity with the book (didn't now there was one), is the daughter a lesbian in the book(s) - or is there even a daughter?

Also, except for one particular scene in Trading Spaces where Curtis' character is going to warm up the Winthorp character, she's annoying in every movie I've seen here in (though sometimes that is what the character is supposed to be)

I enjoyed the first books in this series… my wife was an Assistant Medical Examiner when we started dating. (She never had a suspicious death case, the coroners got called for the obvious violent deaths.)

I stopped reading the series when the author went on a tear about being gay in America and, suddenly, all the male characters were either losers/evil/helpless/weak. That’s about the time the author (Patricia Cornwell) came out as gay in her personal and public life.

I wasn't sure what to think about this. I'm glad you guys had thoughts.

I added it to the queue before but after reading the above, I've removed it. Ain't got time for leftist infusions unless it's material to the storyline.

I swallowed my pride and paid Amazon's bribe so I wouldn't have to suffer through endless commercials. I cued up the show and came to much the same conclusion as you 20 minutes in. X10 on the Jamie Lee and the woke bullshit. Bailed and won't be back.

Fortunately, the bribe covers ALL movies and shows (with some exceptions on embedded subscriptions) so I was able to watch Young Sherlock which I'd gotten frustrated with due to ads earlier. The first episode was good enough that I'll be checking it out.

Watched the 1st episode last night. Not sure the plot will have enough to hold us. Transitions between flashbacks and present were hard to follow. Had to look closely at Kidder's hair style to figure out some of them. But maybe that's just us.

If the family drama piece continues to be a major part I'll probably bail. Curtis is convincing as the batshit crazy sister, but I don't want to see it.

An aside, re PHPaul's comments: We haven't caved to Amazon's $3 stick-up for ads-free, but their commercials have made some things unwatchable (Fallout, for example). Thanks for the thought on Young Sherlock. Marked it for later because it looked like it might be fun.

Well, I watched...tried to watch the first episode last night. I'm usually very forgiving with shows and movies and can overlook a lot, but I turned it off. The acting in particular bugged me, not the plot. I expected much more.

Same here, occasional flashbacks are one thing but I find the constant back and forth between periods annoying.

My wife watched it all..

I found the family drama scenes annoying. Wife enjoyed it but I might watch one more.

If you want to know the truth, I like the flashbacks characters better than the present day "stars".

I went to IMDb.com to read user reviews… almost all were 1 or 3 out of 10. It’s THAT bad.

The premise of show is set at the VA OCME, so I was intrigued... until I started reading the various reviews.
( Plus, I have an interview with the Main Office in Richmond, this coming Friday.)

I read the first couple of books years ago and even though I thought they were interesting, they never stuck. Then she went on the tear about the whole alternate reality lifestyle and I was over it.

Instead I turned to my guilty pleasure of Dr. G Medical Examiner.
(Dr. Jan Garavaglia explores unexplained deaths in Orlando, Fla., in this reality series that also features re-enactments of events leading up to the death and interviews with people connected to the fatality.)

We didn’t make it through EP 1, horrible.
The books have someone named Kay scarpetta, and dead people. That’s the extent of the commonality with the tv show.

Terrible, I didn't even make it through the first episode. Plus I can't stand Jamie Lee Curtis. Don't waste your time.

As much as I disliked watching the beginning of the first episode, I gave it another shot. I got through it and the second episode last night and realized it wasn't as bad as I first thought. Jamie Lee Curtis sucks, but actually, plays that bitch part really well. I dislike the character immensely so she's doing a good job acting. I find the plot interesting and will see how it proceeds.
