Sad news for everyone who grew up watching the Gong Show. She was absolutely iconic. https://youtu.be/OndJp6Dcwjk?is=fwEmReEFIuPrx62f Sorry about the link. Having trouble embedding YouTube from my iPad. "You know, Scotland has its own martial arts. Yeah, it's called Fuck You. It's mostly just head butting and then kicking people when they're on the ground." - Charlie MacKenzie (Mike Myers in "So I Married an Axe Murderer")

I remember her on "The Gong Show"; if not mistaken I was watching it the day she flashed the world. 94; a very good run. Her active singing years were not known to me, but on YouTube there are videos of her singing jazz and blues standards like nobody's business. From 1958:

As a young guy back in the day, I loved her. I remember her most fondly from "Hollywood Squares" were she'd go toe to toe with Paul Lynde on suggestive humor. They both pushed the envelope just right. Getting in the weeds here, I kinda got it, kinda didn't when she threw out the term "size queen". It was used as a pejorative, yeah a gal could love guys and why limit yourself? Sure she came across as loose but did so with some dignity. I remember watching her on the gong show and remember the episode that got her banned by the network. She had a great smile and was a quick humor as well. Was just thinking about her a few months ago.

Probably like a lot of people my age, I knew her only for being a perpetual game show shows guest and one episode of the Odd Couple.
