Meh. At least Zeus and Apollo are in it. The 308GT was a nice touch. But MEH.

What made the original MPI great was the depth of the individual characters and the chemistry between them. That preview was a soul-less unintentional parody with wooden interplay and irrelevant CGI action shots.

I predict and hope for a fast and quiet burial-at-sea.

I thought the rebooted Hawaii 5-0 would tank quickly but it hasn't.
The Magnum reboot will suck as well, but I bet people will still watch it.
I wont.

Yes it's part of the MacGuyver, CSI, SWAT, suck fest. My mother in law watches them all and occasionally we have to sit through one with the volume at 100... They are all so cheesy. This week the 5-0 gets to handle a Russian submarine....

So, I know there is no love for this, but even at that, it seems like CBS is trying hard to phone this one in.

TC appears to be a staff sergeant in the trailer? Really? They let SNCOs be helicopter pilots? At least in the real Magnum he was a warrant officer.

I haven’t watched a show on any of the big 4 in years. Not gonna start anytime soon. Too much good stuff on pay cable and streaming services.

The show is going to be so much different, I don't understand why they have to steal the name or even try to make the connections.

I understand the title is a brand but it's like, "Hey, we know you love Coke so here's our Coke for you to try except it's going to take like coconut water."

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Agree, just call it Hawaii PI or such. A show about a Mexican ex-Navy guy that is now doing PI work in Hawaii. Oh yeah, he drives a sports car and lives in a house with a British babe and her two Doby's.

My girlfriend is nuts about the original series with Selleck (she was an extra on one of the shows, too), so we had to watch.

CGI was pretty bad on a couple occasions, the plot was difficult to follow, even though it was simplistic, too few scenery shots for my GF (I couldn't care less about the damned place), all-in-all she gave it a bad review. However, she wants to watch next week, hoping for more scenery.

why the hell do they have a latino playing the lead role???

Heresy, blasphemy, and PC horsehit all rolled into a tightly wrapped episodic piece of steaming cine-turd.

I may have grow a 'stache just to get nostalgic for better days!

I am a huge fan of the original series so in fairness to new guys I decided at the last minute to watch. The cgi crap ruined it without doubt. They should have used that money hiring better writers. But that’s what you get from fast and the furious type people.

As a fan of the original it was very awkward to see the new Higgins as a smoking hot babe with a British accent....just all wrong. Rick and T. C. did a very good job. But the guy playing Thomas was a joke. No presence when he was in the room. And I had to laugh when he was driving the Ferrari because he had the seat moved so far forward. He definitely lacks the charisma of Selleck.

What gripes me is they dug Candace Bergen out of her grave to make new Murphy Brown episodes. They could have worked with Selleck and his Blue Bloods schedule.

If the next episode has this kind of silly stuff it’ll be the last one I watch.

I didn't watch the original Magnum P.I. Miami Vice was more my speed.

For this new show, I can say it just looks like CBS threw it through their "machine." It feels just like all of their crime shows. Same color-grading, same pacing, same tone, same shots that never last more than 3 or 4 seconds, same generic bland action music score constantly playing, same forced glib banal snarky humor... It's disconcerting that it takes place in the same setting as their Hawaii Five-0. It feels like the exact same show. I assume the 2 shows take place in the same universe? That's a lot of chaos happening on Oahu at once!

The one thing I will say about a lot of these modern crime shows. They're getting pretty good at teaching their actors to practice proper trigger finger discipline.

Yep. What is the over/under on how many episodes they go before there is a crossover with the two series? I am thinking 4 or 5. I thought it was bad. Female Higgins was the best character and actor. The new Magnum actor checked the Hispanic box.......and that is his only claim to fame, because he sure isn't a good actor.

I recorded it. Just watched about 10 minutes that was 10 too many. Only one Thomas Magnum and that's not him. I'm done.

I watched about 10 minutes and had enough. It's so bad I even turned to the Steelers football game and haven't watched the NFL in years.
