I have only a vague awareness of Irreversible, and that's all I need to know I don't ever need to watch it. Same with Salo. I wonder what compels people to make some films. I suppose it's cathartic.

Carnosaur.

If you've never seen it, picture Jurassic Park if they actually showed what it would be like to get eaten alive by a dinosaur.

Yeah, I forgot about that one.

Reminded me of another similar one of Dafoe's movies. "Poor Things".

Yeah, I wonder about that guy. He was in another called Anti Christ. I don't need to see it to know it's whacked. The people involved with making these types of movies are a bit concerning. We worry about the politics of people like De Niro, while the (not so) closet weirdos like Dafoe just skate from one weird pseudo-porno to another. Like I said, must be cathartic for them. But, if that's your catharsis, I do wonder...

Although I didn't watch it, the reviews I saw of Poor Things said it was basically having sex with a woman that has the mind of a child. Very disturbing, but that loser Mark Ruffalo didn't object since he was able to get it on with Emma Stone.

Yep. That’s Gaspar Noe. I saw it opening night at the art house in Dallas. (Angelika Film Center)
The ticket window guy even had to read a disclaimer to just purchase a ticket. One of the best films I have ever seen but difficult to watch.

Two of Stanley’s films are likely his inspiration.
Shining and A Clockwork Orange. Painful to watch but masterpieces of film.

Oh, I just remembered one that qualifies on both counts for me...even though it has nakey Scarlett Johansson in it: Under the Skin.

Practically no dialogue, nor explanation of events, but lots of disturbing visuals.

A Serbian Film - This movie is often nominated as 'Most Offensive Film'. If you're familiar w/ the joke The Aristocrats, it's along those lines. I've never seen it, but when I looked up & read its summary, that was enough to know I never want to see it.[/QUOTE]

I made it about 15 mins in and had to stop.

Nothing But Trouble with Dan Akroyd and John Candy, among others. It should have had enough star power to make a decent movie, but it was way too bizarre.

I thought of another film that after reading its synopsis made me say, "Nope, hard pass."

The Savage Is Loose - George C Scott directed & stars. It's about a husband, wife, & their son stranded on a deserted island and the love triangle that develops between them.

It was released in 1974. Any of you heard of it?

If you care to see it, it's uploaded in its entirety on YT.

I actually went to see this when it came out, having no real idea what I was getting into. My GF and I walked out at some point, long before the movie was finished. Ugh
