The Godfather, Luca's character adjustment
Learn something new every day, at least for me. I am sure some here know but Coppola inserted Luca's practicing his speech to Don Corleone because the actor, Lenny Montana, butchered his lines in the speech scene when he met the Don. This was to save the scene to portray Luca as nervous and bumbling with the Don.

I always wondered why Luca's character in the movie differed from fierce assassin portrayed in the book.

The over-the-shoulder shot of Brando with Montana facing towards the camera and speaking his lines- Brando had a Post-it note on his foreheard that said "fuck you".

The lead up to that story I'd seen (and found here) was this started with James Caan's involvement too.
