Daredevil: Born Again.

Yeah it's on Disney but we got that because my wife insists so at least something I will watch on it too. Same cast as last.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but not going to hold my breath.

The Daredevil and Punisher shows worked partly/mostly because Disney took more of a hands-off approach since they were developed by Netflix, and because they were aimed at an adult audience.

This was also before Disney went fully off the rails with their woke BS, and before Marvel stuff took its big dive in quality.

Now it's on Disney's own service, which is more kid/teen-oriented. And Disney is running the show completely. Keep in mind the last dozen or more Disney-Marvel shows and movies have been awful-to-middling.

So I hope it's good, but won't be surprised if it isn't.

It looks excellent, but I'm still nervous they're going to fuck it up.

Yup, sad that it’s on Disney and not on Netflix. I’ll never see it. I’m not giving Disney a drop of piss.

I actually tried to cancel disney+ yesterday.

I told my kids to finish watching what they wanted back in december.

Well, it let me cancel, but since it auto renewed a few weeks ago (guess i had an annual plan), disney said it's canceled but you can watch until jan 2026. I ended up having to call a live person to demand a refund. Refund just hit for the whole year.

I won't get or support Disney but I did like the Series when it was on Netflix (or Prime as the case may be).
Maybe after Disney makes their money from it they will let the others show it. Frown

I’ll give it a shot, only because the previous version was really good, And it looks like they are keeping the same cast. I already subscribe to Disney because of all the good content for the kids.

Looks good. I hope it is. I enjoyed all the Daredevil / Punisher series. Hell I liked Jessica Jones & Luke Cage as well. Loved Iron Fist as a kid. Thought they could have done way better on that one.

Yeah, Iron Fist was easily the worst of the Netflix Marvel shows.

Luke Cage was not great either. Same with the team-up Defenders show.

Jessica Jones showed promise and did well in some areas, but still fell short of Daredevil and Punisher.

I never watched the third season of the original series so I'm currently rewatching all of it, along with The Punisher.

The first season of Jessica Jones was the only one of the Defenders series I watched, so I hope there's not much interplay with those characters in the new series.

I'm unsure of how it will go since watching Daredevil on the recent She Hulk thing. I'll probably give it a look since the Kingpin is back.

Well, back again.

D'Onofrio's Kingpin already made his reappearance in the Hawkeye series. (That series wasn't great, but also wasn't as bad as some of the other Marvel stuff. So you might want to check it out.)

Ok wait.

What Daredevil series?
What Punisher series?

Dangit have I missed out on something good? I tried watching the arrow series and the flash and they seemed terrible.

I believe Netflix originally aired DD and Punisher. Sadly, I quit trying to keep up with all the movie and TV tie ins, then DD went to Disney, so I'm lost.

All that said, DD was awesome. Big Grin

Netflix produced Daredevil and Punisher series (along with a few other related Marvel shows that aren't as good) starting in ~2015 and ending in 2018.

Shortly after they ended, the rights reverted to Disney and these series are now available to watch on Disney+.

And now Disney had resurrected/rebooted this Daredevil series using the same actors with Daredevil: Born Again, which debuted last week on Disney+.

Yes. The Punisher is introduced in Season 2 of Daredevil, and then got his own two season spin-off show as well. The standalone Punisher show wasn't quite as good as his introductory run in Season 2 of DD, but still good.

I'd watch Season 1 and 2 of Daredevil, then Season 1 of Punisher, then Season 3 of Daredevil, and finally Season 2 of Punisher. (The order of their showings on Netflix.)

Then give the new Daredevil: Born Again a shot, which brings back the same Daredevil and Punisher from these two earlier series, with the same Punisher set to get his own new reboot/sequel series in 2026.

There are also four other related Netflix Marvel series: Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders. They're all slightly interconnected, especially The Defenders where all these characters team up together with Daredevil. But these all fall far short of the Daredevil and Punisher shows, running the gamut from decent (Jessica Jones) to kinda okay (Luke Cage) to pretty bad (The Defenders) to really bad (Iron Fist).

You're not missing out on any important backstory or other details if you simply skip them and stick to just the much better Daredevil and Punisher series.

I pretty much agree with what Rogue said above, except that Defenders is a "mini" series that bridges Daredevil seasons 2 and 3. Agree that the story itself is pretty bad but the ending of Defenders leads directly to beginning of Daredevil season 3.

Watched the first 2 episodes of Daredevil: Born Again, and loving it so far.

The first season of Jessica Jones was the first of these series that I watched, then on to Daredevil. I thought JJ S01 was creepily superb.

Understand that although I had heard of Luke Cage and Iron Fist, I had never read them, and hadn’t heard of JJ or The Defenders at all. So I had no preconceptions about anything but Daredevil, who is cool.

And Daredevil (S01 at least) is great.
