Get my pies outta the oven! |
I’m a pretty big Doctor Who nerd and grew up watching Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy and was overjoyed when they revived it in 2005. To me Doctor Who ended with Peter Capaldi as I refuse to watch the new Woke Who with a female Doctor and her merry band of Wokesters and have a feeling it’s not going to make it much longer. With that being said, I wanted to inform you all that there are two good streaming sources for watching both eras: Classic Doctor Who (1963-1989): BritBox Modern Doctor Who (2005-Present): HBO Max My favorite Doctor from the Classic era is Tom Baker of course and my favorite from the Modern era is actually Christopher Eccelston even though he only did it one season. Matt Smith is a close second.

I never got into the original show (before 2005). I love sci-fi (see my C.U.T.), but I never saw a single episode until just a couple years ago. I finally figured I would see what all the fuss was about, and sat down and watched Season 8 Episode 2 (Into the Dalek), and I LOVED IT! This remains one of my all-time favorite episodes. I have since seen every single episode from the 2005 reboot. I am somewhat old fashioned, apparently, so I own Seasons 1-10 on DVD. I tried to like the female Doctor, but I just can't do it. She is a good actor, the sets are nice (I like the new TARDIS interior), but the writing just sucked. This started to decline rapidly in quality (IMO, of course) starting around season 9. Season 10 was trash, with just a couple good episodes. There is a meme that goes: "Doctor Who used to be educational. Episodes in the past taught us about history, episodes in the future taught us about technology and where it could take us. Now, it just teaches you life sucks and everybody you love dies." I did love the last movie "Twice Upon a Time." It had Capaldi meet the First Doctor (from 1963 or so). I have seen a few Ms Doctor episodes, but they just aren't good. Everything is depressing. Too many good people die and everything is just depressing. I can't even get to the woke part. I think it's time to let it die. I still have 9 (give or take) good episodes to watch, and they can't change those. Fear God and Dread Nought Admiral of the Fleet Sir Jacky Fisher

I never had a problem with a female incarnation of the doctor and I actually thought Jodie Whitaker did quite well in a vaccum so to speak. The writing, however, went 100% to shit and completely woke and that’s what killed it IMO. Have you seen the “latest” regeneration "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

Yes and will not be participating in what could be the last season of the show. They’ve acknowledged that they’ve lost millions of viewers, the numbers are way way down hence the panic move of dialing up the nostalgia with previous Doctors and Companions. Woke turns everything to shit and they’re proving it true yet again here.

I grew up watching William Hartnell (#1) and Patrick Troughton (#2) from behind the couch. Haven't watched it since Peter Davison regenerated.

For real? |
I've been rewatching the Eccelston, Tennant and Smith episodes on HBO Max in preparation for the 14th Doctor specials next year. I made it about halfway through Capaldi and gave up. Watched one episode of Whittaker and gave up again. I'll watch Tennant's return as the 14th Doctor and quit again afterwards. Not minority enough!

I started to detect a bit of preachiness early on with Capaldi but it’s really turned into full on self-important crazy Wokeness bullshit to my understanding. IMO they are making a fatal mistake here, with letting the show get way too self-important and serious. There was always an underlying element of humor, and not taking itself entirely too seriously, but I think that’s all gone now, isn’t it?

So let it be written, so let it be done... |
PlutoTV has a classic Dr. Who dedicated channel. Classic Dr. Who on PlutoTV 'veritas non verba magistri'

Tom Baker will always be The Doctor to me. Wokism is destroying every form of entertainment. I hope those that make & support it burn in hell.

Well, it is free tv so they probably could only afford the abbreviation... 'veritas non verba magistri'

Same here. I was a huge fan back in the 70's and 80's (Tom Baker FTW!). The rebooted series starting with Eccleston was good too, although I started to get a little tired of Amy Pond. On through Matt Smith it stayed good. Capaldi was different, still The Doctor but just, well, different. When Whitaker took it over I watched a few episodes, but the wokeness was just too much and I haven't seen any of it since then.
