I just finished watching the German TV series "Das Boot" on Hulu. This not a remake, but a very well produced, directed, and written stand alone series generally based upon Academy Award winning movie. I'm not going to provide any spoilers, but there's a lot of talent both on screen and behind the camera. The plot involves more than just the drama of what occurred during the U-boat war of the Atlantic (to include intrigues involving the smuggling of French Jews out of the country, French Resistance fighters and Nazi collaborators).

Yes, it is TV and some of the subplots are pretty off the wall, but overall this is a very enjoyable series and its obviously going to come back for another season. I'm eagerly anticipating it!

Is it in English or subtitled?

Probably goes without saying, but this is subtitled in English? Yes?

Mostly subtitled, but plenty of English too. Lizzy Caplan ("Virginia Johnson" in the series "Masters of Sex") and Vincent Kartheiser ("Pete" in "Mad Men") both are prominently featured in English speaking roles.

May give it a try sometime.... always enjoyed the movie but then a friend of friend (German) told me to read the book...

Damn good book and a great read.
