Fighting the good fight |
If you haven't already, I highly recommend checking out the Director's Cut. I believe it improves the movie dramatically. It's 45 minutes longer, adding a lot more context and more fully fleshing out Balian and several other characters, while helping even out the film's pacing. Most notably, it increases the time spent on the subplot involving the Leper King and his sister, and offers important insight on why she makes the decisions she does. (Same with Gladiator, another of Ridley Scott's historical epics, which is also noticeably improved in the Director's Cut...)  | |||
