What a gut-wrenching show. Only four episodes. Stephen Graham should get an Oscar nomination for playing the dad. Talk to anyone who has worked with young people long enough and most of them will tell you that they have been aware of being in contact with very young psychopaths from time to time.

It is really good. I went back and watched a second time to pick up all the little things I knew I missed the first time. One awful thing so heartbreaking for so many different people for so many different reasons.

Wife and I were riveted. Intended to watch only the first episode tonight but ended up watching all four. I’d say it’s a must see for today’s youth and their parents.

Warning! Spoilers ahead…

I found the ending a bit too depressing and sad but it was well done. I just couldn’t get over the kid continually saying he was innocent when they had video of him doing what he did. Stephen Graham was awesome as usual. My favorite thing about it which I noticed immediately in the beginning during the police raid was that it was entirely continuous shots, which was pretty cool.

I binged watched and need to re-watch the last episode as I was sleepy.

The first episode was intense and well done. Suspenseful. All characters played well, in particular the DI and the suspect.

2 and 3 were somewhat captivating but not sure exactly what / why. Thinking about it, probably the character study of the suspect (sleepy).

And I need to watch 4 again - no recollection of it other than it was more narrative in nature.

If this is what school behavior is like these days, it's no wonder what behavior society in general for the younger demographics is.

Think about it. He keeps saying “I didn’t do anything WRONG” or “It wasn’t ME who did it.” Not that he wasn’t guilty.

Okay, I need some help.

What's the moral / theme here? What's this really about?

Murder is not the right response by the suspect. Although he didn't think he did anything wrong, murder was not the correct action. That being said, if he were being tormented and bullied and if the authorities failed to take effective action, then there may be some level of extenuating circumstances.

Still, I don't think that was the intent of the story. What is it? A commentary on modern teenage life? A study on plausible psychopathic behavior (was it really psychopathic? Or just an over abundance of anger?)? The grief of the parents and 3rd parties affected?

The first episode was great. But I think I'm missing the point of the 2-4 episodes. Not sure what I'm supposed to be thinking about. I'm not good at this stuff. Same with book clubs.

It is talking about online culture, such as “incel” culture, more so than bullying. Involuntary celibacy - 80% of women go for 20% of guys. Tremendous resentment by young men of women who they think don’t find them attractive -they deserve to die. I think more than that though, this kid is a sociopath or psychopath. He clearly thinks he did nothing wrong. Did you catch that there had clearly been a prior psych evaluation done before the gal started hers (I can’t hear about the other one…) I think he was evaluated as being psychopathic before she started hers. They were hoping to refute the first psych evaluation. Clearly didn’t happen - his true colors came to light. She wasn’t so much upset because he scared her - she was upset because she realized that a kid that young was beyond hope or saving.

But that wasn’t true in the end. Unless it was some part of his evil plan, the boy took responsibility a year later and was changing his plea to guilty. Which kind of blows the entire premise that the boy is a psychopath out of the water. A true psychopath isn’t learning a lesson and changing his tune in only a year and pleading guilty. Between this strange reversal and the show being dragged out for 4 episodes rather than 3 (which is truly all it needed) is what sort of hurt the ending for me.

Yes, watched after seeing your thread- only read the first post, then stepped away to watch. Mildly annoyed because I felt like there should be more closure like the trial and final sentencing, etc. but it certainly was riveting. I actually let my 12 year old watch the opening scene, after vetting it myself.
I knew that the hearts colors meant different things, but I didn’t know about all the rest. So freaking sad. My kid doesn’t have Facebook or Insta as yet and I’m really hoping that it fades in popularity by the time he gets an account.

I don’t think so. I read it was based on a series of different incidents, or at least 2 different ones involving attacks on young girls by young boys.

For whatever the crime may have been, everybody tiptoed through it to a fault, a murder of manners. In the end tedious.
