The Gentlemen was good, albeit a bit laden with extremely gay characters and innuendo.

I never said I didn't like it. But Guy Ritchie can do better than he did with this movie.

Quoted myself, to call myself out. Guy Richie’s movie are hit and miss and have been so since Snatch. That’s over 20 years ago. The only one that caught me off guard, because it was so good, was The Gentlemen. Matt did well in it, like most of Wooderson’s work, but the film was solid, it was funny, and extremely well done. Caught me off guard as I was viewing it when it came out because I was expecting it to be status quo.

I just got out of my HT to view the Covenant. Top 10 war films I’ve ever seen. It’s not the top few and I don’t know where I’d stack rank it but to me, yes one of the best and moving war films I have ever seen. It helps that the Blu-Ray is buy it turf. 5 of out 5 for a 1080p blu ray both in terms of PQ and SQ. The soundtrack was in Atmos and it’s a beautiful soundtrack. This makes twice this year I’ve been caught very off guard by a film. I’m still in shock and teared up at the end of this film. Dar Salim was excellent as was Jake. Even Johnny Lee Miller, whom I was caught off guard that was in this, was excellent. Even with limited lines in the film. I’m a film nerd and man this is tops for the year for me. Best film I’ve seen in 2023. And I repeat, with all sincerity, one of the best war films I have ever seen. FMJ, Platoon, a number of war films would rank higher in my feeble list but this damn film was that noteworthy. Extremely moving. From the first frame until the last. Not a single frame wrong. Direction was perfect, acting as well, and the soundtrack is award nomination turf. I looked it up and it’s Christopher Benstead who won an Oscar for Gravity. It clicked when I read that.

I didn’t think Richie had it in him anymore. Perhaps due to the subject matter and perhaps because he co-wrote it. This has to be watched on a decent screen (PQ wise) and some kind of decent audio system so for those without a HT, should have been caught in a XD type cineplex theater with proper sound, etc. If you’ve got a solid sound bar, get the volume up and prepared to be moved. Best on disc, cannot vouch for streaming. Wow. My two pence.

Finally watched last night. As with most action films, seemed far fetched at times, but overall kept me entertained. I don't ask for too much watching a movie, but also really appreciate something well done.

Finally caught this last night.
I agree with Prefontaine, this was really good and I had also written off Guy.

While lower budget, it was solid storytelling.

I enjoyed it a lot.
